Anyone else with only 1 interview? O_o

Temple.. nope. Haven't heard jack from them.
Drexel... nope. They put me on "pre-interview hold". Jerks. And to think I grew up in Pa!
Vermont.. nope. I think they should put me in their class just 'cuz I know that 18 weeks is more than "several". I can count better than they do, and I have manners enough to let people know SOMETHING when I say they will - even if it's a "we haven't gotten to you yet, but you're still on our minds".
Colorado. OK, this one really is startin' to piss me off. I mean, it's my own state school for crissakes!! I've been PAYING for them to stay alive with my taxes! Not to mention all the patients I've brought them over a 15 year career as a paramedic! I'm gettin' the shaft here without even the benefit of a reach-around. (note: this doesn't mean that I wouldn't be absolutely ecstatic to get an interview invite from you, CU)

Anyone else really ticked off at some schools?

Haha...no not yet, although Im sure its in the works. My hatred for Temple stems from my brief encounter with the woman (I have a few other words for her) who answered the phone in the admissions office.

I guess Vermont has slightly improved its image in my eyes ever since they changed my status from "Youre complete and will hear in several weeks" to "Youre in our poss interview pile...now its time to wait some more you dumba$$". I also am really pissed at NYMC...I mean I have at least gotten postcards, emails stating app completion, status checks from most schools...the ONLY correspondence I got from NYMC was a call to tell me they required a transcript (from a school I never attended) before my app was reviewed by the committee...and this was a few wks ago when Ive been complete at that school since mid August!!! I had to step away from the phone, cry a single tear and then return to the conversation after which finally the secretary admitted that she had made a mistake that costed me over 4 months without having been reviewed.......my god...the bull$hit we have to go through as applicants.....

No doubt. Vermont already kicked me in the jimmy. Coughed up a testicle just yesterday 😱 . Still haven't heard from about 12 schools. Temple, NYMC, Drexel, etc. Oh well. At least we have VCU...oh wait, we don't 😡 .

I didn't grow up in PA but I'm pissed at them, too. That's sad because so many people are so happy with them. I'm also pissed at Jefferson and Temple.
Oh, there are a bunch of schools I'm pissed at. Do you really want the list? I'm pretty sure I posted it in another "Where-Are-You University" thread.

On one of these threads I started a "Official Bad School" list. I really post too much on SDN. I can't remember where it is. If someone finds it, let's bring it back.

The lady you spoke to...does she sound like an old lady? I think I spoke to her before too but she was mean kinda like a bitter Tweety's Grandma. At any rate, I hate Temple too. I also hate:
NYMC
AECOM
MCW (this school toys with applicant's emotions too much)
NYU (I know I have no chance but you still gotta send me an official rejection notice since I forked over $100 and also so that I can complete the wall-papering my bathroom).
Temple (employs hell's rejects as their staff)
UVM (what timeline are they on?)

Mild annoyance includes:
SUNY Upstate - Do they NOT put anyone on hold?

So, we get to be angry. 🙂 Umm, my angry list includes Temple (haven't heard a peep from them), GWU (same, again) and OHSU (my state school for goodness sakes).

Last Friday they responded to me about 30 minutes after I emailed them to say - drum roll please - The Admissions Committee has placed my application on hold for re-review at a later date.
It's worth a shot. Temple won't return my emails (I just want them to tell me I'm pretty) and I didn't apply to oregon....

i hate: nymc,temple, aecom, jefferson, tufts, penn, and rfu- i am drowning in the pool
i also hate all the schools that rejected me already

well, looks like i am done in this application cycle. It was fun, and now to next year to try all over again. On a high note, I ended my undergrad with 4.0, including orgo 2 and organic lab...

but i don't think it matters. I must have idiot on my forehead or something...

My categorized angry list:

For putting my application at the bottom of the pile, planning to never get to it, but refusing to just reject me and put me out of my misery and forcing me to maintain a speck of hope:

Albany, Baylor, Emory, Jefferson, SUNY Downstate, Tulane, and UMDNJ-RW

For puting me on the pre-interview hold after giving me advice which I followed when waitlisted last year:

Maryland

For outright rejecting me without an interview:

SUNY Upstate

For not learning how to study effectively prior to my junior year of college giving me an ok but apparently less than competitive BCPM during my frosh and sophomore year:

Myself 😡

Gee that leaves all but one school, my 1 interview, at a school I'm not sure if I'll go to if I get in. Looks like I'm headed for another app cycle myself.

I'm outa here although I havent made a big anouncement or anything but I do think I would consider joining a group if it was called "had an interview, looking forward to a positive answer (acceptance) before going on the next one so I could feel a little more confident the second time around"

P.S. I spent nearly 700 bucks 😱 on the fancy suit and coat and that didnt even include shoes. I looked like a high ranking New Yorker CEO visiting the school to accept an honorary degree, maybe it was too haughty looking for me? I felt overdressed while the other ppl there came with mismatched suit jackets and slightly informal dress, jewelry and makeup (women).
The plus thing is that the coat was super warm and the shirt is wrinkle proof so no worries for the next time since I cant even think of buying another suit for the next 4 years. This process is so unpredictable!

I HIGHLY doubt they're gonna take me or even put me on the waitlist but I figure I'll give it my all because who knows, right? Blah... it'd be a miracle if I got in to Sinai or GW. Hopefully I don't F up the interviews too badly. 🙂

i'll post asap. its in april i called them 5 times already and no luck of moving it forward. bribes and threats did not help either. mb i can send them a pic of the suit and they will want to see it sooner ?

haha...thanks! definitely understandable though...had i not gotten one, i'd be jealous of someone else who got an interview from sinai...as i have been ever since they started granting them. 😛

u know, i was actually surprised at how some people were dressed at my interview. especially for the ladies, i think there is more margin to "mess up." (like, cheesy girly pink piping on the suit, large dangly club-going type earrings, garish orange/fuschia eye shadow, tight cotton t-shirts under the suit with wide necklines that should only be worn with jeans.) only one guys was wearing a strange shirt under his suit. everybody was wearing a black suit except for one girl wearing a dark blue skirt suit.

but actually i think in the end it does not matter. you can tell that everybody was trying to look as "nice" as possible for their interview (even if it was a hit or miss), and they were very young kids mostly. i'm sure the admissions commitee sees their outfits as cute. 🙂
 
Here it is, January 19. I've been on this list since Labor Day weekend. I think I'm done this year. I'm ready to cry.

saw an email from mcg in my mailbox, got really excited until i read it. just an email asking me to clarify what biology classes i've taken.

I was wondering where this thread went. I'm super super hoping for an invite from Maryland. Hope was pretty much gone and I was going comfortable, if not pleased, with the idea of another cycle, but my the health professions advisor at my alma mater e-mailed and said she had a "really good" conversation with Dr. Foxwell regarding my app and she "thought I would hear something positive soon." Now, hope has been dangerously resurrected so that I can make a quick decent, crashing back to earth when I do not get this invite. Damn you hope!

Edited to note: I think I sprained my finger clicking the "get email" icon on my inbox to refresh and check for new messages.

Well, my dear, I'm still on this list too. But I just wanted to throw some optimism out there because my one interview turned into an acceptance last week. One shot, one kill. One is all we need, kiddos! 👍
