Did anyone hear (acceptance or rejection post interview) From Yeshiva/Ferkauf's Clinical PsyD program yet?
Did anyone hear (acceptance or rejection post interview) From Yeshiva/Ferkauf's Clinical PsyD program yet?
I've heard via email and phone.
i have not heard back from them yet. im a bit worried. has anyone been rejected yet?
I accepted to their combined program a few days ago.
how do u know u are on the waitlist. i havent heard from them yet and when i called they said they would let us know by the end of this week.
I am curious to hear people's thoughts on the program. My experience there (mostly with the interview) was not a good one.
So picture this:
I Interveiwed at the Clinical PsyD over a month ago. Yesterday I Get an envelope in the mail from Ferkauf, open it up, and right away a card falls out to mail back saying whether i "Accept" or "Reject" the offer. So I am naturally very excited. I start reading the letter:
"Dear _______: I am happy to inform you that you have been accepted for admission to the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology for the semester commencing Fall 2007 as a regular full-time student."
At this point I begin dialing my my parents to tell them the good news. But then I continue reading:
"Your admission is in a course of study leading to the Masters of Arts program in Mental Health Counseling."
😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡
I called up, and they said there is no waitlist yet - they don't make one till April 15th, after they hear back from everyone they initially accepted! Why can't they be like every other program - accept some, waitlist some, reject some; not accept some and funnel everyone else into your Masters program! And they said i have to accept the MA offer BEFORE april 15th or I would lose my MA slot - so i would have to give that up if i even wanted to find out if i got on the psyd waitlist!!!!!
There may be a waitlist for one program (psy.d) and not for another (combined).
Or, maybe he just considers not hearing until April 15th being on the "waitlist." And, perhaps everyone that has not been rejected is ranked on this list.
This is all just a guess.
Just thought I would add my two cents for everyone else who has interviewed for the Clinical PsyD at Yeshiva. I interviewed on March 8th and have not received anything. I'm curious if anyone has any knowledge of how many students they are accepting this year vs how many were interviewed?
On a different note:
Did anyone get a tour? If so, would anyone care to elaborate on their experience for those of us who were not so fortunate?
I've never been so involved/interested in my mail before...
im assuming youre talking about the regular psyd and not the combined program. I applied to the combined program and i know they interviewed 100 and accept about 20. For those that applied to the combined program, we were given a tour and the chance to speak to students about the program. I had a VERY good impression after my interview, I have a feeling those for the regular psyd were not so impressed.
PsyMoose,
I interviewed on March 8th too. Did you go at 11am?
Psydplease,
Thanks for the info. I wonder if those numbers are similar to the clinical program's acceptance rates?
So I'm taking it that no one on the board received a flat-out rejection?
It sounds like fruedfiend got a rejection. I think everyone given an interview who is rejected is offered a spot in the MA in mental health program. BTW - I don't know how useful this MA really is. I'm thinking it is a cheap consolation prize.
Also...
Does Ferkauf really have that great a rep that everyone is getting so worked up over it?
i wrote a letter today to dr. mcguinn asking about where i was on the waitlist and this was her reply:
"I am very pleased to hear of your interest and wanted to let you know
that you are at the top of our waitlist."
she didn't specify when i would hear back from her but i was wondering if i should just wait it out until april 15th or just accept the offer to mspp?
has anyone actually gotten a rejection? or do you think were ALL on the waiting list?
PS With the way YU operated thus far, I'm not giving up my other slots until I see something in writing! LOL
