Just wondering... Has anyone had an interview and been rejected? I noticed I haven't seen any.

I feel like everyone is getting accepted this year... There are students getting interviews without having done supplementals, or finishing getting their rec letters-- and its not because their app is stellar. It kind of frustrates me to give 200% and someone who wasn't on top of everything is squeezing by just fine. But I guess that's life right. 🙁

Oh believe me, many people get rejected but they dont tell anyone about it (why would they anyway?). Some people in my class are re-applicants. Also, if you look at the logic of how many people apply to a particular school and how many actually interviews there, u can see that people get rejected even pre-interview. However, some of those probably declined the interview because they were accepted elsewhere.

Not sure how well my school relates to the rest of the country but we have gotten considerably less applications this year and last year.

How do you know other applicants were not on top of their stuff?😉

You're just assuming. Usually when people get interviews, that means they've passed many steps to get the interview. Assuming they didn't do so well on the interview (like me) they get put on the alternate list. Just a nicer way of saying, "we thought we liked you, but not sure now." Most people get rejected before being offered an interview...also...like me. I've been rejected at a couple and offered interviews too. I dont post which schools i got rejected to..why would i? that would ruin my confidence:laugh: LOL.

I think people concentrate on getting accepted more than rejected.

I personally know 4-5 people who literally have just been not working on their apps and just doing other things and/or bumming around. I can name a few schools that have given interviews without the student having all requirements met (supp app, rec letters.. as in they haven't asked their writer). I believe everyone deserves a chance at pharmacy school but not if they are lazy and not doing everything they can to get there.

I really do wish the board that approves new schools could take this into consideration... 🙁

I have seen a couple of rejections mentioned on here. Also, I think people tend to not post about it if they don't get accepted... At least not nearly as much as those who get accepted. I am not sure I would jump online to tell others about a rejection letter.

"Back to school, back to school... To prove to dad I'm not a fool. Got my backpack on, my shoes tied tight, hope I don't get in a fight."

Well I guess I'm one of those students to an extent, I got an interview offer without one of my LORs being turned in, but I'm not lazy.

I do have to say that you sound extremely bitter. Stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and focus on yourself. Perhaps you are applying to more prestigious schools than they are.

Also, know that if students got interviews, they actually met the requirements to get an interview. So the schools saw something they liked. I'm sure you will get interview/accepted as well when your time comes.

Yes, I agree, I do sound bitter. However, I have already been accepted to several programs, one being my top. I'm not stating this because I'm angry someone is getting something I am not.

I was offered an interview at a school I never filled out a sup app for. So no to that statement - you CAN get an interview without meeting all the requirements. I just wouldn't bet on it.

It is far more common to just get rejected pre-interview. When the school gets your application, if they do not feel like you meet the needs of their program they sometimes simply will not contact you in any way. Some schools get 1000+ applications and only interview ~200 people, this seems to be a common story.

So, if 1000 people apply, 200 people get an interview, and 90 are accepted, you can see that your chances after an interview are much higher. This is why the interview process is so important.

So.....why do you care? Does seeing rejections make you happy?

Keep in mind there is more than grades and pcat. Just because someone has fewer ECs doesn't mean they are lazy. For all you know they could put alot of time into just a few things instead of multiple. A brilliantly written essay can change an interviewers mind too!

There will alway be people who get interviews and accepted when they don't deserve them but If they are not cut out for pharmacy school then they will flunk out. But it's so easy to judge someone when given so few facts about the background of the person, te details of their grades, PCAT, and ECs. Also their life story and personal statement.
