Hi everyone,

I am new here to SDN. I had my Baylor interview back in October. I was wondering if anyone thought they did "okay" or terrible and still got into the school?

Hmm, I know a friend that thinks she bombed the San Antonio interview. She eventually got in, but not on December. I think other schools are like this too, but Baylor I am not too sure lol.

I didn't interview at Baylor but I did at UCSF which weighs the interview relatively heavily. They actually use an algorithm to determine an acceptance. I thought I bombed the faculty interview because I was so tired and jet-lagged that I stuttered and lost my train of thought when telling a story about a patient. However, I thought I did well on the student interview. On my ride home to the airport and on my plane ride, I kept thinking about how badly I bombed and wouldn't get in. Low and behold, I find out I got in on December 1st.

Anyone have the cost of attendance breakdown? I remember her saying the mean was $130k but that seems low.

@BabyShades how was your Baylor interview? I'm applying next cycle and would appreciate information about the tone of interview/any vibes you got in it

My interview consists of 3 - 12 minute interviews with all faculties. I think the interview was low stress and there wasn't any particularly hard questions that they gave me. It is important to make each answer short and to the main point because you only have little time to impress them. If you have any more questions, PM me.

130k sounds like a good deal lol.

I know. I asked how many people pay most out of pocket and take very small loans and she said not many do. Figured the number was skewed down a bit.

Do you remember if they had a detailed breakdown of it in that packet? I can't find mine.

well since the admission offer is not only made based on the interview (even though it plays a big part), whether you did really well or terribly cannot be assumed to be the direct cause of getting in or not getting in.

But, I've heard some people thought they did horribly, but surprisingly got accepted, but that's not to say that your interview didn't matter or their perception of how the interview went was different from the applicant, it could be because their overall stat was good enough to overshadow the bad interview skill. Vice versa.

Who knows man!

I will try find my packet, but if I remember correctly the total debt is around 190k. Most people don't usually spend this much due to living expense and etc. Dr. Miller told me there are apartments around here that will give you a discount in living because that dental students are generally studious and quiet in the apartments. LOL
