I hate the lab coats are like laundry bags.

Has anyone tried the Medelita lab coats?

They are way pricier than regular ones ($128?), but I really don't mind to spend more on something I wear 40 hours a week, as long as it is worth of the money.

Any comments on Medelita lab coats?

Your med school doesnt provide you with white coats?

Does it come with a fleshlight sewn into a pocket or something?

That would only account for about half the price.

I wouldn't spend the money on something you might end up trashing anyway.

Buy one when you become an attending... or maybe during residency. But I wouldn't recommend buying one for the clinical years of school, too much money for something you'll wear for 2 years tops.

If you wear Medelita, you will look so much better than your attendings -- and this is not a good thing. It's like wearing designer clothes on rotations (ie, Tory Burch flats). Not a good idea.

Just wait until you're a resident, and then splurge on the Medelita. I've seen them around - they are quite understated (bordering on flashy, but a good flashy) and they look really well made. In fact, I may order one today - gotta be stylish after all (derm).

I was a resident at a southern med school, where it was pretty hot in the summer and we wore short sleeve lab coats that only went down to the waist. Practically weighed nothing but held a lot of stuff. To me the only reason that we don't have short sleeve lab coats with long tails is so not to look like Jedi Warriors. If you think about it sleeves have no discernible function other than getting soiled with bodily fluids.

Yeah but they look good... like I don't care how hot it is outside I would never wear a short sleeve button-up/tie combo, it just doesn't look right to me and a few people who I've asked about it seem to agree.. idk why lol

I always roll my sleeves on my white coat up a la Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy. I started doing it as a way to keep my sleeves dry when I wash my hands.

Do you live in the south? I only own short sleeve shirts. Long sleeve shirts are just too hot/uncomfortable.
