Anyone else find problems with cliff note's description of interphase? Isn't interphase supposed to be in the beginning of the cell cycle to replicate DNA to prepare for mitosis rather than at the end to "regenerate a second chromatid"?
same thing. I went back to look at what you were talking about. The chromosome comes from mitosis is a chromatid so it needs to be a pair for mitosis to happens again...therefore the S phase (synthesis) gives the chromatid a copy making them into sister chromatids. here is a picture to visualize what I mean. Hope it helps.
it would be same for diploid, triploid etc ...and same for mitosis and meiosis. This is because in both meiosis and mitosis. we start out with 2 homologous chromosomes (4 sister chromatids) . If it was haploid, you would start with just 1 chromosome ( 2 sister chromatids). I suggest Ty's or Feralis notes or khan academy for a better understand. Good luck friend and hope you ace the DAT.
