PhD/PsyD APPIC Internship Interview Invitation Thread (2019)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got this one too but my stupid phone was messing up and it went straight to my voice mail. Based on the message it sounded like they just mentioned the dates but won't be scheduling us until we get an email from their assistant next week. Did they let you pick out a date during the phone call? I'm so worried cause I have conflict on two of the four offered dates!
They only gave all the information. No scheduling until they send the email next week.

Official Site Name: University of Denver, Graduate School of Professional Psychology
Date Invitation Received: 11/28
Method of Invitation (Phone call, personal/mass email, snapchat): phone call
Specialty Track or Site (e.g., for consortiums): Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan
Offered Interview Dates: 1/3, 1/4, 1/8, 1/9
(In honor of last year) If & How you're staying sane: I'm not, I'm freaking out because my phone is messing up!! this call went straight to my voice mail even though my phone was on, and I received the voice mail message 4 hours later!!! wth AT&T

AT&T had a major outage today. Let’s hope gmail doesn’t go out, too!

On a similar note, does the site see the fee or just APPIC? After 15, the fee increased, and I was wondering if sites know they were 16th on the list (in reality their due date was 16th in line, so they got done last).

Beyond the fact that what you spend financially is the business of you and APPIC only, I don't see why any site would pay attention even if this were the case. As you mentioned, some applicants separate designations and pay in order based on application deadline. Other applicants may send to all designations at once, making one lump-sum payment. In this scenario, you can see why sites would have no ability or reason to view the transaction, nor would they be able to extract any meaningful information from it that would override you as a unique candidate. As an applicant, I wouldn't even mind being the 16th choice - as long as I get an invite!

So, in finalizing one of my interviews, I initially mistyped the date and wrote 18th instead 11th. The TD got in touch with me, and after a couple emails he said that my interview would be on the 16th instead, and details were to follow. I just got the details and it now states my interview date as the 11th instead of the 16th. Should I email the TD and mention this error in date or just go with the 11th?

The 16th worked perfectly for me, because I had another interview in a nearby city on the 17th and it would save me a trip. What should I do?

I would send a message asking for clarification- you don’t want to show up on the wrong day!

Can't believe I didn't find this site sooner! Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far

Is anyone still waiting to hear from UCSD/San Diego VA? It seems odd that I wouldn't have heard at this point given the dates others were notified

I am waiting but have made the assumption that I am awaiting a rejection. But who knows at this point.

I scheduled an interview at Cleveland VA about a week ago, but just realized if I get an invite to Lancaster General Health I'll have a conflict (the latter doesn't offer any other dates or Skype interviews...).

I might be getting ahead of myself, but do others think asking to reschedule will be frowned upon?

I've also come to assume that - it's just so odd that sites would stagger the notifications like this!

Unless the unlikely occasion arises during which multiple sites on my list send another wave of invites, this method of waiting to send rejections seems to be more the norm than the exception. But that's just my perception based on my specific list.

Same here. It’s driving me crazy....I think I have around 7 sites or so that have sent invites but haven’t notified me one way or the other. So weird/confusing.

For those of us that have heard from one site out of 10,000 (and get this reference):

That’s one of my favorite bands/songs! Great perspective too!!!

I know someone who applied for the PREP track at MMHC@BIDMC and has not heard anything. I applied to the Neuro track and have not heard anything either. At least we only have to wait until Tuesday (or Monday based on their own website).

I received an invite from the PREP and general tracks on 11/21.

Congrats! Do you know of anyone who has heard from their Neuro track? I find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t have done that track along with the other two, but don’t recall anyone mentioning it.

Anyone heard from the Henry Ford Neuro Track? I see that the Health Track notified applicants awhile ago

I am still waiting for this one too. I thought I would hear from many sites this week but I literally haven't heard from any so far (this week).

I’m waiting to hear from them, too. I was hoping they would offer the same, or at least similar, dates as the other track, as I’d prefer to do a December date if they’re offering some. But December is COMING and I so I am getting ANTSY

Same here! I hope Henry Ford Neuro just hasn't sent out anything yet. Doesn't seem like anyone has heard from them.

Hang in there!

For those of you that know others have received an invite but you’re still waiting (for rejection as this site has no history of sending out invites in waves), and you reached out to inquire about your application, did you email the training director? Or did you email an administrative assistant that sent out the invites to others? Also, what did you say in your email? Thanks in advance!

I am in this situation but cannot yet answer your question - none of their notification deadlines have passed and I assume that I will eventually be notified per APPIC guidelines. If any of your sites’ notification deadlines have passed, it is appropriate - to my knowledge - to email the DOTs politely inquiring regarding the status of your applications. They would be in the best position to provide answers. I certainly don’t advise making contact prior to their posted deadlines.

I will add that there are sites this year that, for seemingly the first time, have sent more than one wave. It may not be likely, but some sites are deviating from their typical behaviors.

I haven't done this yet, but I've heard several folks advise applicants to wait until one day after the site's posted "notification date," even if quite some time has passed since their invites went out. If/when I do this, I plan to email whomever is indicated on the site's brochure/website as the contact person for applicants; if their brochure doesn't specify, or they don't have a brochure, I'll email whomever is listed as the contact person for the site in the APPIC directory. As for what the email should say...I dunno

Anyone who interviewed at Weill Cornell last year - do you know if Interviews are at the Westchester or Manhattan campus? They will send out details later but I want to book travel arrangements/hotels asap..
