Side note coincidence: I was also "Reviewer 2" for a manuscript - submitted it just yesterday, in fact.

Yeah. There is a Puget Sound Seattle VA and a Puget Sound American Lake VA. Both are basically in the Seattle area, but they are distinct programs. I believe Puget Sound Seattle notified people in a mass email about three weeks ago.

I hate living the reviewer 2 life, but someone has got to do it.

Think of it this way - without Reviewer 2s, most everyone would perish. That's the hyperbolic line, right?

Haha, that's a fair statement. I generally find that my comments align with those of other reviewers (I am slightly nicer to the authors). Therefore, I don't feel too bad.
 
One site I'm particularly surprised to have not seen yet (if I'm wrong, someone please correct me) is Boston Children's Hospital. I would have expected this popular site to have notified around the time of all the others up in that geographic area.

Gosh darn it, I thought I got this one. I know you indicated that it was a personal email you received. Can you let me know if the email was addressed to your actual email address? Or did they create an email list like most sites do?

Anybody else hear from them?

They list in the brochure the week of 12/3 as the notification time

Hi there, current intern here! 🙂 (not at Boston Children's, just to clarify)

Just an FYI on the Boston Children's front, they were a late hold out last year, not notifying until like the second week of December! They also notified in waves (Friday and Monday) as a cohort-mate and I got invites on different days. Hang in there on this one!

And also, hoping everyone else can hang in there, too! I distinctly remember this time last year and thinking I was in the fifth circle of hell with the waiting game. It's super tough to be juggling a thousand things and also have this huge cloud of ambiguity and uncertainty hanging over your head. Just remember that there are tons of sites that have yet to notify, and many of the different tracks go out at different times. This waiting game piece will soon be over and then comes the interviews, which I (and others) found to be quite enjoyable! So make sure you're taking care of you, and take heart knowing that everything will work itself out and you'll each land exactly where you're meant to 🙂
 
Has anyone heard from Rutgers Biomedical/UBHC in Newark, in the Child/Adolescent Track? Some earlier posts have been unclear as to the exact Rutgers site an invite came from.

Yeah, I’m just surprised they haven’t sent any notifications like the others in that general system - MGH, MMHC, VA Boston. But the time will come soon enough.

Thank you for this kind post - it's very helpful and consoling. Did you notice last year whether or not other sites in that health system (MGH, MMHC) sent in waves or if their early notifications were the full extent?

Of course! Happy to lend some support because y'all, this process was rouuugh.

And unfortunately, I'm not sure. I only applied to BC and didn't pay as much attention to the other sites in the system.

Thank you for this! After 9 days of silence followed by 2 rejections in 24 hrs, my anxious mind was thinking about applying to two extra sites. I need to calm the heck down...

The email was addressed to my actual email address, no indication of an email list. They also used my specific name in the email.

Yes, I received an invite from the child/adolescent track the other day. Not sure if they are doing it in waves or how it is working.

I have not...hoping for a second wave or a rejection at the very least so I can cross them off my list! I may email tomorrow considering their notification date was 2 days ago.

I haven't heard anything from Durham yet either. A handful of my sites are doing this, very frustrating.

(In honor of last year) If & How you're staying sane: I turned on push banner notifications so my phone lights up with a message when I get it on my account I use for little other than internship. That way I don’t get OCD checking e-mail. I just am like Pavlov’s dog when I see the light on the phone. To be more obnoxious, I think I’ll set it to ring when an e-mail comes in.
