APPIC Internship Interview Invitation Thread (2020)

Does anyone know whether UNC-Chapel Hill Counseling and Psychological Services has sent out interview invitations yet? The APPIC directory listing says that phone interviews will be held from 12/6-12/19 but it does not look like anyone has heard from them. I'd be surprised if they sent out invitations only 4 days in advance...
I also applied to this site and have not heard from them! I'm thinking probably early this week maybe!

Really bummed, just got rejected from Didi Hirsch. It was high on my list of sites I would like to attend and I was surprised by how emotional I just got after reading that rejection email. Have you guys been a little distraught after getting rejection emails or are you able to just kind of compartmentalize and not take it personally?

Absolutely. You are not alone. Hopefully something will come through for all of us who are getting rejections.
I also got rejected from Didi Hirsch. It was not high on my list but still does not feel good as my mind initially goes into a mode of trying to figure out what about my application they did not like, what would have made me a better fit, etc. I have to remind myself that this is not a helpful process and that it's okay to feel hurt by the rejections regardless of whether the site was high or low on my list because of how much work went into the entire thing. But I trust I will end up somewhere that hopefully feels like a good fit. But I think it is okay to feel both distraught and to try to not take it personally at the same time. If it helps any, I have gotten a mix of invites and rejections and those rejections still hurt. The story I tell myself is that the site saw my application and experiences I wanted and decided that my training needs would be better met somewhere else (because all these sites know we are applying to a slew of programs). While I have to force myself to remember this, it has helped me a lot as a reframe for the inevitable, "Was I not good enough?" thoughts that come up!Really bummed, just got rejected from Didi Hirsch. Rejection from Brown Health Psychology track.
Same for adult track. I didn't have a very good research match there, so I am not surprised.Rejection from Brown for the neuro track.

Same, it actually came as a relief as the Brown dates were breaking up my West Coast interview dates. I definitely didn't have very good research fit with the faculty there.

Their brochure states they will notify applicants tomorrow (which is different than the APPIC website, which stated by 11/30). We should hear tomorrow! Very excited about that site [emoji16]

First rejection - Stanford CAPS. Ok I need to get ready for all of these rejections/invitations!!! 1 down, 18 more to go.
For those of you who are able to see the rejections as not being good fits for the sites and moving on, I think that is a good way of looking at it in terms of preserving emotional energy that will be needed when the time comes for your actual interviews. You will never know what was in the minds of the TDs reviewing your applications.
Now I’m in the position of watching the regional TD and consortium president making the majority of the decisions, it’s interesting to watch what application points they note. They weren’t all things I thought about when I was an applicant. Now I’m a supervisor for a site that is a minor rotation within a few of the consortium placements, I have some input in applicants but very minimal and it is during the interview process, not interview selection process. It’s all up to the regional TD and consortium president at that point.
Sites are very different and my point is there is a lot that one cannot control and the most important thing is to be honest about what kind of internship experience you’re looking for. Don’t worry about geographic location (unless you have some sort of extenuating personal circumstance) because you can live anywhere for a year if you’re getting what you need out of a training experience.

So weird...I get an email back from a site within a consortium I applied to (a VA). They rejected me, however, they tell me that I will be interviewing with the other site in the consortium which is an AMC that I applied to. The problem is, I already received a formal rejection from this AMC site about a week ago. So, I am a bit confused. I did email back to confirm/clarify.
Wondering about whether it would be okay to call/email a TD due to an application notification date being about 2 weeks ago (11/22)? I'm assuming rejection (and would be fine with that), but in terms of getting "an answer", is this a case of a site being late to reject and I should just let it ride? I should also mention I've heard of another student being rejected from this site through email, so it feels like I slipped through the cracks...

Has anyone heard from Metropolitan State Hospital or know when their new notification deadline is? On the appic directory it says their notification date was 11/22 but I know they extended their application deadline and I can't find if a new date was posted. I thought I'd check and see if anyone else might have heard from them!
I think I was told that per APPIC policy all sites have to notify regarding rejections. Whether or not they adhere to that rule is another story 🙂Do all sites send out rejection notifications?

As an undergraduate I volunteered in their penal compound! Since I was an undergrad I don’t have much insight into their internship program, but I am happy to chat about the general area or the patient population if you have any questions!
Seven more to hear from...really hoping for some notifications today.
Supposedly I have three incoming today. Good luck to everyone this week, and happy Monday!
Rejection from Captain James A. Lovell VA. So far I have 2 invites and 5 rejections. I still have several to hear back from, however my nervousness is telling me to apply to another site with a 12/5 deadline. I'm worried I applied to sites that are more competitive than I realized, many of which are in cities rather than rural areas.

Thank you so much for writing this. I spent a good deal of time processing, and thinking about what you wrote. Although I am dissapointed, I can trust that for whatever reason I was not a good fit. We will all end up at the site we are supposed to be at. For now, I just need to surrender to this process and go wherever it takes me!If it helps any, I have gotten a mix of invites and rejections and those rejections still hurt. I'm so glad it helped! I'm a big DBT fan, so I'm constantly "Turning my mind" towards acceptance that I won't be a great fit at some of these sites and that doesn't speak to who I am or my worth as a future psychologist. We are all going to end up exactly where we need to be!Thank you so much for writing this. I spent a good deal of time processing, and thinking about what you wrote. I was mostly joking lol. But also I was interested in seeing if anyone had the nerve. Because if so, damn girl. Good for you.I probably wouldn’t do that unless the deadline was a later one and you were having problems due to the issues. I’m guessing that those who had earlier deadlines have already started to review/have sent out invites and wouldn’t get to your application. Also, with all due respect, it does not seem fair for those who applied to the sites with the original due date.

So my Stony Brook interview was scheduled for the date I requested for the MGH CBT track interview. I haven't heard back from MGH just yet, so I'm wondering if I should contact the site and let them know my preference for interview dates has changed. Or would it be better to just wait and see?

Does the program state any policy on interview scheduling? Sometimes that information is provided in the invitation email (if there was one), in their brochure, or on their website. Some sites state that once you have submitted your preferences and/or scheduled your interview you can no longer change the dates whereas others appear to be more flexible. So my Stony Brook interview was scheduled for the date I requested for the MGH CBT track interview.
