(In honor of last year) If & How you're staying sane:

Only a few sites left! I am so ready for this waiting phase to be done!

Okay I officially am seeking moral support. I have only 2 interviews so far, and am waiting to hear back from 6 more sites (haven't heard a peep yet this week!!!). I'm driving myself crazy with this waiting and also have gotten the idea in my head that I will only have 2 interviews, which makes me very worried. Any words of guidance will be SO appreciated right now!!
Two interviews is great! You only need one place! I have not gotten any and definitely have lost any hope. Go celebrate and enjoy the fact that you got two interviews. That's awesome!

Ok so I never received the rejection email....but then I got the email stating some people received the first one in error. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Asking for a friend who received the same emails, did anyone receive a follow-up call or email??

I really hope that you get at least one interview. If not, I hope that you find a site in Phase II that exceeds your expectations and makes all of this stress worth it (without having to spend a ton of money traveling) Good luck to you!

So I never received the initial rejection email but then received the email stating some people got the 1st one in error. I was very confused by what this meant for my status so I emailed the administrative person back and just asked if my application was still being considered....to which she responded “applications and interviews are complete” 😢 So guess I should have been on that initial rejection email.

Yesterday I had 3 offers and something like 9 rejections. Was waiting on 5 sites. Today I got three more offers and I’m just waiting on 2 more offers or rejections (much more hopefully than I was yesterday!!) I think it’s a combo of sites waiting till the last minute to send offers, and part of the delay in hearing means you are still in the running! And, to share my “worst case scenario” helpful thoughts; with just two interviews, your chance of matching is about 60%. Good odds! Also round 2 doesn’t seem that awful and a bit ago I anxiety-read a thread on here from last years round 2 and they all seemed very happy with the outcome! And if there aren’t sites you want in round 2 and you wait till next year, you’ll be a stronger applicant with more hours, research, dissertation completed, and feedback on your apps!

Woohoo!! What a day!

Has anyone received rejections from (1) California Pacific Medical Center (Inpatient Psychiatry or Women's Mental Health) or (2) Nassau University Medical Center? I know that some have gotten interviews already . . .
Have a friend that got a CPMC interview in November. Not sure of the track though

I’m wondering if anyone has received rejections from Albert Einstein or Cambridge?

Both of those sites are seemingly notorious for both inviting and rejecting applicants very close to their deadlines (if not on the deadline, i.e., CHA).

congrats on the invite! I'm scheduled on the 6th so I am no help, but I hope someone else is able to swap. It's such a guessing game scheduling these things.
It really is, thank you for responding and congrats to you as well! I haven't heard much about this site at all, but it seems interesting on paper!

Has anyone already been through at least one interview that would like to share a difficult interview question you were asked that caused you to stumble?

I have practiced the basic questions about my professional/personal goals, interests, research, strengths/weaknesses, clinical cases, so I feel I have a general understanding of what my answers will be. I am most worried about the random ones that will throw me off the ball. 🙈

I got asked a book or podcast that has been impactful to me and why.

Also, I legit stumbled over the easiest question the other day in my first interview haha. Just be yourself (a prepared version).

It reminds me that I need to begin prepping for my interviews. *sigh*

Omg. That has seriously been a very common question asked (feedback from members of my cohort)...... Who has time to read for fun at this moment? I admire y'all if you do. Haha. I wonder what selection committees are looking for when they ask such question.

For me it’s 1) the chosen by Chaim Potok - when he’s talking to his son about making meaning in life all tears 2) Harry Potter and the sacred text

Has anyone heard from Fraser? Their notification date is listed as today I think.
I received a personalized e-mail invitation on December 5th. (Dates offered were: 12/16, 12/20, 12/30, 1/3, 1/17)
I really don't know whether they were sending invitations out in batches, but I haven't gotten a confirmation of my interview date yet, maybe they're still working on organizing everything?

I was asked what has had the biggest impact on my life and why... Kind of a very personal question.

If anybody is going to the American Lake VA interview 1/8 then the Portland VA open house the next day 1/9 and would be interested in coordinating something, please send me a message. Thanks!

Me too! I’m excited about this one (and just excited about being in West Palm for a day)! Congrats!

I'm wondering if anyone has some insight on a scheduling issue I'm having. So I received a phone call invitation to interview and they offered me just one date that was available with no option to complete a phone interview. I have another interview scheduled for that day already and feel stuck -they expected me to commit to an interview date right then. Based on posts in this forum I know other applicants were called two days ago and offered one of four days to interview. So I wonder if this is usually how phone invitations work- if you are at the end of the list, you just get fewer options? And now I'm wondering if the list is neutral (alphabetical) or based more on site preference for applicants... I know it might be hard for anyone to know for sure, but I'm thinking of cancelling my less desired site interview to do this one, but if I was a last choice for the new site, I don't want to do that... thanks for any help🙂

I was preparing to address a very similar situation - ultimately, I didn't get the other interview that would have conflicted, so I didn't have to worry about it, but this is what I was planning on: email Site 1 and explain the situation of no flexibility from Site 2 and your desire to attend as many interviews as possible. Then inquire if they have had other candidates cancel or request a change from other possible interview dates, or if they would simply permit you to interview on an alternate day (or Skype) given the situation. If neither will budge and you truly have to decide between one or the other, I would go with the one YOU prefer most, without trying to deduce where you might fall in each site's rankings. I can sympathize with trying to incorporate that info, but you may never know - whereas you do know your own preference.

Thanks! Congrats to you as well! I am also excited (and in case my username wasn't enough of a hint, I'm trying to see if I can fit in a trip to Disney while I am in the area 🙂 )
