Okay friends, time to channel this extra election/Covid/overall state of the world worry into something more productive than rewatching the Great British Baking Show.

This thread is primarily to share invitations for interviews. Feel free to PM me if you’d prefer to stay anonymous. I’ll do my best to stay on top of updates. Additional posts, such as site-specific questions, rejections, and general community support in these uncertain times are accepted and highly encouraged!

I still have not heard from any sites (applied to mostly neuropsych sites, a couple of health psych). The waiting is just driving me insane. What do you guys think, is it a really bad sign I haven't heard back from anywhere yet?

I don't think so! It's still early. Quite a few of my sites' brochures said that they wouldn't notify until end of November/early December.

I applied to 12 neuropsych programs and I've only heard back from two. Based on previous years I think we will hear from most neuropsych sites over the course of the next week or two.

I see some people have received rejection letters from sites. Do all sites send them? Some people have been notified of interviews for sites and tracks that I've applied to. Not sure whether to remain optimistic or anticipate a rejection letter.

Definitely not! It's SO early. I have been making my friends who applied last year go back and see when they first got interviews and most did not hear anything until the end of November with the vast majority of interview invites coming in early/mid December. I don't know specifically about health/neuro but I really cannot imagine that for any specialty it is time to worry. I totally get the panic though-seeing other people def gets the worry going for me too, but you are fine!

not at ALL! I’m a current intern and we just started reviewing apps this week (and there are a ton to get through - they will likely be reviewing apps next week as well I think).

From my own and previous cohorts, how soon you get invites has way more to do with your particular sites/tracks than anything else, and the people who got invites earliest weren’t even necessarily the ones who ended with the most interviews or who were most successful in the match.

Has anyone heard from Mount Sinai Department of Psychiatry (neuropsych center)? Their handbook said that they would notify applicants about their decision on Nov. 16th, but I don't think I've seen anything either from them.

I’ve been waiting to hear from them too, but nothing. On the APPIC directory it says 12/15. So maybe that’s when they’re notifying?

Also got the following updates from programs thus far:
  • A personal-email rejection from Western State Hospital (no track; Steilacoom, WA) on 11/13 at 10:15pm as part of their "preliminary review of completed applications," meaning that was probably the first round of rejections, so don't stress if you haven't gotten an invitation yet 🙂 (notification date on APPIC is 12/1)
  • A mass-email rejection from Fulton State Hospital (Forensic Evaluation track; Fulton, MO) on 11/16 at 11am (notification date on APPIC was 11/15)
  • A mass-email notification from UC San Francisco (applied to both clusters; this is the 2-year internship-postdoc program) on 11/13 at 10:30pm saying that I met the minimum requirements and apps would be reviewed by 11/24 at the latest (APPIC website says 11/30, so that's quicker than expected)
  • A personal-email notification from Patton State Hospital (Forensic concentration; Patton, CA) on 11/17 at 12:45pm saying that they received my State of California employment application and were starting to review applications (notification date is listed as 12/15 on APPIC website)
Good luck to everyone; hope the existential dread goes away soon!

Received a mass email rejection from the University of Chicago peds neuro. Second rejection of the day, ready for some invites this week to balance it out.
I feel this! I've received two rejections and have seen two additional sites I applied to be mentioned on here. A universal notification day would be an amazing thing to consider, especially with all the added individual stressors people have d/t COVID etc.

My advice is to not place to much meaning in the lack of response from a given site that has been mentioned previously. I received an invitation to an interview nearly a week after individuals began to post about recieving interviews. Its not over till you get the rejection!!

This Russ Harris video helps me when I struggle with anxiety around performance...

I was thinking the same thing about a universal notification day! Lofty wishes, but the wait can be torture.

Congrats to those who received invites! I have not heard neither from California Pacific nor Albany consortium, so I assume I will be getting a rejection?
Agreed with the above that some sites send out invites in waves. I was in a similar boat and actually ended up matching at the site that gave me a second wave interview. I wouldn’t give up hope yet 🙂

It would be nice, but I can't see it happening. Even in a specialty area, we've tried to standardize the postdoc interview and notification dates (a much smaller task) and the uproar was astounding.

Hello everyone! Has anyone heard back from the Adult Psychology track at Massachusetts General Hospital? I know that the CBT track has received invitations, and want to know if it's time for me to cross it off the list.

I haven’t heard anything, but I applied to the integrated brain health track.

I didn't realize that they had notified CBT track people. :arghh: I think that last year the notifications were spread out over a few days.... but I could be wrong!
