I thought it would be good to start a forum about the school's application review process for those of us applying next year.

I know not all of us have a lot of $$$ to apply to a lot of schools, so school selection is very important. I think this would be helpful for future applicants looking to apply to different schools than before or for 1st time applicants. Plus I HATE the rejection threads, I want people to be successful 😍 -- and I think is the first step knowing about the selection process .

So I am gonna post what I know about other schools applicant selection processes as I get them, others are welcome to join and add.

Last years applicant selection process:

Virginia Maryland Regional College (VMRC)
Academics: 70% of initial selection split evenly between: Overall GPA, Sci GPA (important policy: only does required science courses, does not accept retakes), Last 45 GPA, and composite GRE score
Non-academics: 30% of initial selection split evenly between: Animal, veterinary, research, awards/accomplishments, recommendations, and PS (?)
Interviews: initial selection is disregarded, and applicant is selected based upon performance in interview

last i knew, they'd eliminated giving you anything for your PS, just used it to learn about you 🙁

That explains why the admissions coordinator had dodged my questions in regards to that. figures.

Well that seems... Strange? Why even have you write one if they're not going to take it into consideration and they're going to interview you anyways?

Ok, editing and adding. ... i missed out on Auburn by 40pts on my GRE 🙁

they technically do take it into consideration, you just dont get any credit for it. they want to read it, they want to learn something about you, and they want it to be very well written. in other words, because theyre poopy faces 😉

Washington State University (MINE ISN'T TOO HELPFUL! So please add to it)
Get 600-800 OOS applicants a year for 30 seats.
Four GPAs calculated: Overall, last 45, Science, and GE
GRE I think was mentioned that the percent was 62% this year(???) c/o 2015 was 58% according to the website.
Veterinary experience got the opinion that they wanted a variety of experience (who doesn't though)
Stressed making sure that you have all your accomplishments listed in your application.
