Application Reviewed Without Optional Letter?

I have a committee letter completed through AADSAS, which is all that is required for 99.9% of schools. However, I have an optional letter from a dentist still on the way. Since the dentist's letter is optional, will schools still review my application, or will they wait for the letter?

If the dentist letter is not required, then of course they will not hold your application, and how will they ever know that such a letter is in fact heading towards them?........unless you notified them.
