Does anyone know when Yale EMD is going to come out with their decisions??

Does anyone know when Yale EMD is going to come out with their decisions??

Hi,

They come out roughly three weeks after they tell you that your application is complete and under review. They e-mail people Thursdays and Fridays. I got my decision Thursday 2/23 and my app was app was complete on 2/02

Has anyone heard from Yale for the HPM program? They emailed me that my app was complete on 1/26/12 and I have not heard back from them yet. Do they take this long to send out decisions?

I got into the management track a few weeks ago. I applied around mid-Dec, if that helps.

Thanks. How did they reply? Did you receive an email or did they send you a link to log into their portal?

yeah she put me on hold twice when i called. but at least she answered the question. it's cheaper and faster for them to do decisions online now, but i agree, snail mail is the best.

Finally got an e-mail from Columbia that I'm in and not waitlisted.

Thank you baby Jesus!

Hopkins decision on PhD in International Health (Human Nutrition) is posted in the apply online website.

Has anyone heard from HSPH decisions from Nutrition Dept (SD)?

Just got into Yale Chronic Disease Epi! Weeee 😀 Leaning towards Emory, but it's still really nice to have the options!

Accepted: Emory, Yale, Tulane
Waiting for: UCLA, UMich, Columbia

UMich will let me know via e-mail right? I cant see anything in the portal that reveals their decision, but I'm not sure if I'm just missing the link entirely.

CONGRATS fancypants22!!! That's very exciting. Has anyone heard from the EMD department at Yale? I've been waiting nervously by the computer as of recently.

I got an email on Feb 18th saying that i was in EMD @ Yale. I received an email on Jan 4th saying that my application was complete. so it can take over three weeks to hear back from them..

I'm beginning to get frustrated with Yale's policy department. I've accepted the fact that given that its been over 6 weeks since my app was complete theres a 99.9% chance I'm not getting in, but I wish they would just send me the rejection letter rather than string me along until the end of the process.

I guess those of us who applied to Columbia's PopFam department have to wait extra days before we finally hear from them. The wait is killing😡

Congrats! And yes U of M will email you before they post anything on wolverine access. I got my acceptance email about a week and a half before my link was uploaded.

Although many of us were rejected from HSPH SM80, I think it may have been for the best. Their SM program is research heavy and unless that's what your career focus will be, it probably isn't the right fit. Maybe that's how their adcoms felt.

Stats:
GPA: 3.7 undergrad public health/premed
GRE: 650V 760Q 5.5W
President of Undergraduate Public Health Society
Experience in patient advocacy at the VA in Washington, D.C.
Volunteer work with Tibetan refugees in Himalayas of India
Volunteer work tutoring at a school in inner city New Orleans

Applied: Tulane (MPH/EPI), Emory (MPH/EPI), Berkeley (MPH/EPI), Columbia (MPH/EPI), HSPH (SM80/EPI)
Accepted: Tulane (MPH/EPI), Emory (MPH/EPI), Berkeley (MPH/EPI), Columbia (MPH/EPI)
Rejected: HSPH (SM80/EPI)

good luck to everyone who's still waiting on decisions!

Agreed, though I applied for EMD (complete January 4th). Haven't heard of any rejections, so naturally I would think they're just waiting to reject us at the end. But I don't think it's insane to think maybe we're still being considered...

Possible, but I haven't seen any rejections so far. Makes me think those will be going out at the end.

I called earlier in the week and was told my application was waiting for review by faculty. Considering applications sent later than mine were already reviewed and received, I find that hard to believe.

I still haven't heard back from Harvard. Maybe thats a good sign, or the departments may have different schedules.

Columbia fixed the letter today - Now it unambiguously says accepted for Healthcare Management 16 month program!

--------------

Rejected: Berkeley (HPM)
Accepted: Yale (Policy), Emory (HPM), Columbia (Healthcare Management)
Waiting: Hopkins, UCLA, Harvard, Brown

Thank you for the info! I am crossing my fingers.

Mine telling me when your Yale app was complete and when you were accepted?

Wanted to share some good news -- I just received an email from Harvard that I've been accepted to the 80 SM program in SHDH! So excited!

Congratulations! I applied to the Social and Behavioral Sciences track as well 😎 Are you thinking about doing an area of emphasis? I was thinking Health Communication but now I'm leaning more towards Intervention Planning.

BU processed my application on February 1st, so it's only been a little over 3 weeks now, but I still want to know! :scared:I think though I would rather receive the packet first than the email. Makes it more exciting and personal....and having something to hold in your hand makes all that hard work pay off! 😀

I'll keep you posted!

I also applied to the Social and Behavioral Sciences and my process date is also February 1st! Has anyone heard anything from BU?

Hi Anna! I know of 1 person on this forum who has heard back from BU (SOPHAS mailed out their application on 1/24 and they heard from BU on 2/16). SOPHAS also mailed my application on 1/24...so I hope I hear from BU soon too!

Good luck! :luck:

I was accepted to BU HPM a few weeks back. Took almost exactly 4 weeks from when my app was complete.

Just got accepted in MSc 42.5 credit in epidemiology at HSPH!!! finally something is happening!:luck:

Accepted at HSPH 80-credit MS in Global Health and Population!

Called Admissions, spoke with FinAid and they said that funding info will be sent out in the next couple of days. Fingers crossed.

I received an acceptance email from BU on 2/16 for the International Health program. SOPHAS submitted my app on 1/25

I was just accepted into HSPH for the 80 credit SM in Epi.

Stats: 3.92 GPA, 740 Quant, 540 Verbal, 5.0 AW
Graduated in April of 2011 with a BS degree in health related field, strong math background, experience conducting research with the graduate school of public health at my undergrad university, and experience working in health care
Had one killer letter of recommendation that I think might be the reason I got in (in addition to a very strong math background and having already conducted research on a hot public health topic)

Hey John Smith 88,

Yale took longer than usual for me. I suppose they may have been wavering.

I applied 12/15 and heard back 2/23.

Thanks for the response. This gives me a sliver of hope. Was your app complete on 12/15 or is that when sophas mailed it?

HopefulCJ, I never got a letter from UCLA saying that my application was sent to the department for review... is this a bad sign? I just got a letter acknowledgement that says my application was received. SOPHAS surely sent out the app... so what does this mean? Anyone else in the same boat?
I don't know what that means, but if you call be prepared to be hung up on. I'm sure it's fine and probably hidden in your spam.

Accepted at Columbia with a $40K Rosenfield Global Health Scholarship! 😀

Now the hard decisions come....

Got into the 80 credit SM in Epi today at HSPH. I'm ecstatic. Anyone know how much in grants/scholarships people generally receive?

Accepted into the University of Illinois at Chicago's (UIC) online MPH program in Community Health Sciences! 3 down, 2 to go!

Accepted to HSPH for SM in SHDH and to Columbia (with merit funding) for MPH in SMS. Found out about both today.

Just got into UIC. I want to hear back from Yale and Columbia!

Accepted on Feb 24th to HSPH SM 42.5 in epi program. Also got into JHUPH MSPH. Really a touch call! The curriculum in Harvard is definitely focused on basic skills but not on hand-on experiences. JHUPH's MSPH is more rounded which is sort of like a MPH program but for students without advanced degrees. Definitely worth a separate thread for discussion.

Hello, I am new to this forum. It seems great! What concentration did you apply to at UIC? And how did you find out, via mail, email, or just through the online status? I just saw "admit" on my UIC admission decision on the online status.
