I'm looking for thoughts on reapplying to medical school while starting somewhere else. I am thinking of doing this to try to get into an in-state school to start the following year. I don't mind starting over again. I don't want to give up this opportunity as I am not guaranteed a spot the next application cycle. I'm torn because the in-state schools are my dream schools. Please help
Do you mean to say you'd reapply to medical schools while starting another medical school program that is not your first choice? How would you respond to the two questions on page 3 of the AMCAS application that ask under ADDITIONAL APPLICATION INFORMATION:

Previous [Medical School] Matriculation:
Explanation of Reapplication:

Very bad decision on multiple accounts. 1) see @Catalystik post just above. 2) The seat you'd be taking right now, followed by leaving that seat and taking another - you'd have just taken a seat away from someone who wants to become a doctor (regardless of where they go, possibly even from someone who's dream school is the one you'd be subsequently leaving).

Either matriculate and stay there, or reapply next year without matriculating this year. If you really want to be a physician, I recommend the former. If you are okay with potentially not becoming a physician and prefer risking not becoming one in hope to go to a school of higher preference, then the latter.
