Im thinking of applying a second time to dental schools, I have spent the last 2 years in India doing a post graduate in comparative philosophy and religion.

It was a great chance for me to go back to my native land and experience the life of a the common man here. Its bee a truely inspiring experience. I did do some surveys on the Dental awareness of students and locals and found over 70% never been to a dentist. Definitely eye opening.

I am now ready to apply to dental schools from which i was rejected the first time i applied. I have an overall gpa of 3.0 scigopa- 2.7, AA-19 pat- 20 my scores are low, would it be worth applying to the low end schools and hope or do you think postbach or masters would be the only route at this point? im afraid of reapplying a second time and then havign to reapply a third and having to explain three applications instead of two. Also i dont if that is looked down upon applying multiple times. if anyone has advice it would truelybe appreciated.

It is not exactly clear how you have improved your application over the past 2 years that would make ds take notice. You truly believe that there is such a thing as "low end schools"?

I think that the past two years has made me more mature as a student and has put me through some difficulties. I also believe that two years out and coming back shows some maturity... as far as science preparedness goes i have nothing to show for hence im seeking advice, will it hurt me in the future to apply now and then have to apply again in a year or two after a masters...???

I don't think it will hurt you
Schools like to see motivation and improvement
On the other hand, I am not so sure how your post graduate degree in India will work out
Especially it's not science related
With your GPA, you should take more upper level science courses, or do an one year science master
Get at least one year solid GPA
Your DAT isn't that bad, but I suggest retake and get 21 or 22

Just some of my suggestions

Isn't that your answer? You can apply all you want but maturity alone is not going to buy any brownie points.

First the obvious point is that everyone matures given 2 years, since maturity is a relative term; so NO you cannot materialize upon this.
You may hear that schools look into everything, but not when your DAT is average at best (and we don’t know you TS), and you have such a low GPA, especially Sci.GPA. I cannot imagine anyone so careless about science even when they do not want to go into medicine. You have to work on this one first and perhaps take DAT again. The fact that you have not figured this out tells me that your relative maturity is lacking.

You are right Maturity is a matter of opinion, however i do believe the two years has helped me become a better student with the environment that i have been placed in, i have no problem with doing a masters before dental school, however anyone would be crazy not to try for dental school if its a possibility... also im not asking your opinion on my maturity im asking on whether it would be smarter to not apply three time but just twice after a masters because dental schools look at that sort of thing???????? (howmany time you apply)....no need to add extra commentary... i appreciate your time on posting solstice
