So applying early is important.

Say you can submit the application starting June 1st. Obviously it is the best to turn in your application on the first day or within the first week but up to how many weeks is considered fairly early ?

For example in my case I am studying for my MCAT right now. Since I don't have a very strong GPA whole focus is scoring high on the MCAT. I moved the test date from 5/8 to 5/22 for the same reason.
So I take the test on the 22nd get the score back ~6/22. In the mean time waiting for my score to come back I will work on my essay and primary application and turn in my application probably the last week of June.

Is the fourth week of June still considered fairly early?
Or should I start filling out the application and finish my essay while studying for the MCAT so I can submit the application w/o my MCAT score on the first DAY and send in my score when it comes out?..

Please don't just say it's upto you do what ever you want..! lol

just asking for your opinion sdn'ers~ 😀

Long question short: Is there a big different between turning in your application within the first week of June and fourth week of June ?

Early by SDN definition is the very second it comes out. Keep in mind the ~8week verification time as the AACOMAS traffic peaks; the earliest applications get verified slightly quicker I believe. That said, I personally do not think it really makes a difference between those 3 weeks, but if it is your priority then yes, submit it first w/o the mcat.

I would at last have the transcript portion filled out on AACOMAS ASAP. Last year people were randomly getting verified before even submitting.

Getting your transcripts in and having them verified is the one thing on AACOMAS that takes the longest time.

If you're going to submit around end of July/early August then you might as well submit it with your MCAT.

Focus on your MCAT and take care of the AACOMAS stuff later.

I had my primary verified while I waited for my MCAT score which I received late July. I still was in the first batch of interview invites. So I would say as long as you are complete before August you are solid.

Make sure you get those secondaries back ASAP. A lot of people I talked to drug their feet with them. I would send them back no later than a week after receiving them, since a lot were pre-written.

Agreed with those above. I turned my AMCAS application in Mid-July, and the verification process took FOREVER. They were delayed by a couple weeks this year, so it took about 10 weeks for my verification! I submitted my AACOMAS application was much faster, but I didn't apply until the first week of August. I think it only took 4-6 weeks for verification, and I turned my secondaries in almost immediately (like the same day for many, and a couple days at the very longest) once I received them. They were all in by the end of September (except Touro, because Sept is crazy for them with the Jewish holiday!). I had a couple interviews in October, one in November, December, January, and two in February. I wasn't "late", but wasn't "early" either.

I'd say don't submit it any later than the end of July to be safe.

If I submit my main transcript on June 1st... then have 2 summer course grades from ANOTHER institution come in around mid July, does that mean I won't have everything verified till mid/late august? Or does the 2nd transcript get verified in a shorter period of time?

It *might* take a shorter time since it's only two classes to enter. I applied late, but I had a pretty fast turnaround with AACOMAS. Mid August is still plenty early to have everything in. Be sure to enter those courses in the 'planned coursework' section.

I don't know.

The normal way would be to edit the coursework page and have the entire thing verified again. This can take a few days or weeks.

You could try to sent in your transcript and then email them to add edit in the 2 classes. This might be a bit faster since they respond to messages quickly.

Last year some people waited up to 2 weeks to have their MCAT scores forwarded from THx. I emailed them and had my MCAT updated in 2 days. Lets just keep this trick between the 2 of us. 🙂
