If your interests vary can someone apply for residencies in different specialties at the same time?

Hi there,
You can do this but it becomes expensive. You are going to have to write a person statement for every specialty that you apply to. In the end, when you fill out your rank list, you still have to choose the one that intersts you most. A better alternative would be to do a transitional year in medicine if medical specialties interst you and get back into the match after you have some experience or do a surgery prelim year. If you do a good job with either of the above, you will acquire some solid medical knowledge and skills plus you will get great letters for application next year.
