Hey all,

So I will be applying this upcoming cycle once the application opens up in June 2018. I have talked to numerous friends who have already applied and gotten into schools and they all say to apply as early as possible. I know some say that it doesn't make a real difference but I want to give myself the best chance of hearing back (I am alittle worried about my GPA so I want everything to go perfect).
Some good friends and I were planning a trip to Europe as a graduation gift from our parents (dates are the end of May to early July). I am wondering what everyone's opinion/advice is in regards to applying around or during this trip we have booked. My original thought was that I would work and finish the application while I am in Europe and just miss out on a few tours and nights out in whatever city I am in. But the more I think of it, the more I am worried that there would be some complications in regards to applying while in Europe (like connection to application site and ability to call and get in touch with my Undergraduate school for transcripts and other people for example). My plan is to have the entire application done by June 5 (by that I mean have the application portion done and all documents submitted)
As of now here are my choices: I can either still go to Europe and just apply while there OR I can skip the first couple days/week of the trip and complete the application from home and get the needed documents submitted and begin the processing of them (DAT, LORS, transcripts, etc).

Any advice or opinions are welcomed. Thanks

The cycle for 2018-2019 open sometime in May this year. Be sure to complete you entire application including supplemental. The first interviews usually start coming out around late June/ early July for mid August.

I applied and interviewed while I was living abroad and there were no real issues. You can get all of the application done remotely. Just get everything in line before you leave, especially the LoRs.

I was in your position and got it done. Just stay disciplined - it’s a little harder than it sounds! Try to get as much done beforehand. The one disadvantage is if schools call you, but they usually leave an e-mail. Have a way to call to the US in case of anything, I had to do that once or twice.

Just like others have said, I was able to get my application done while abroad. I would say just get everything in line so that it's entered and ready to go by the time the application opens. The biggest struggle for me was getting my supplemental applications done. It was hard to make myself sit down and write when I wanted to be out doing fun things in a foreign country. I'm not sure if schools will be sending out supplemental apps early this year with the new system or not, but just be aware that many of them won't send you everything you need right away. I had to wait close to a month for some schools to get back to me.

I am currently studying abroad and will be applying this cycle, so I am in a similar boat as you. My advisors all told me to get as much done as I can as soon as possible.
