Is it possible to change to a different residency location after the match results are released on December 16th? I'm starting to think I should have reversed my number 1 and 2 slots. I'm assuming that IM will usually have positions unfilled at most locations.

After the match? Almost certainly not.

However, the GMESB is this week, so if you are absolutely sure you think its worth putting yourself out there, email the specialty leader and both PDs tonight.

Often times after the match there are students who want to switch. If the change is program neutral (body for body swap) and the PDs do not have objections (they don't think one of you sucks), changes can be made.

Believe it or not, I have seen someone switch specialty and location AFTER the match. I'm sure if someone wants to do this, there must be some extenuating circumstance AND there must be an opening where you want to go (not all slots filled for that year). I'm sure this is still difficult to do, but it has happened.
