Hey everyone,

I was wondering what the time schedule was for OBC? 6 am - 4 pm M-F??? Or is physical training earlier?

Plus, if you're on base, do you get free meals?

And I think I saw pictures of the rooms there - they seem to only be designed for 1 person, right? Does everyone get their own own room - that would be really nice.

Oh-yeah... and is the food any good?

The All-Corp schedule (I wish they would post our $%#! schedule 😡 ) has PT starting at 0530 😴 , last class ending at 1830. I understand that the early PT is actually a good thing, as San Antonio in June/July is roasting..... I also understand nights/weekends off, except for Camp Bullis.

Plus, if you're on base, do you get free meals?

In my years an an officer, I have never gotten a free meal. It may look free, but they stick you with the bill somewhere.

And I think I saw pictures of the rooms there - they seem to only be designed for 1 person, right? Does everyone get their own own room - that would be really nice.

From their propaganda:
You will be living in a hotel style room with your own bathroom and kitchenette. You will also have a double bed, dresser, and color TV. Although you will have a maid, it is your responsibility to keep your room clean and presentable.

The use of "your own" and "your responsibility" leads me to believe single-occ......

Oh-yeah... and is the food any good?

I'm just praying for edible. Military food often lacks imagination (no offense to the cooks, but when you cook for 500....) Of course, we can always hit San Antonio at night and spend some of that per diem. Plus in-room kichenette gives some options......

I think we're on MREs over in Bullis.

You do have to pay, there's a DFAC around the corner from the school.

The rooms are actually nice if you are staying in the BOQ, single occ with a double bed, recliner, kitchenette, pretty good cable (a couple of HBOs), and most importantly - air conditioning. Your own bath, too.

I used to eat breakfast in my room (get some cereal and milk from the commissary) after PT and before showering, then off to class for the day. Evenings and weekends generally off.

Pretty good schedule. MREs at Camp Bullis, though I seem to remember a hot breakfast or two.

Last summer the days really varied in length. It seems the longer we were there the shorter the days got. Once PT is over and you head to class the length of the day really depends on your instructor. Some platoons got out early every day and some went late every day. I would say the day can range from 1600-1830. Just about every night is off unless you have some type of duty for your platoon and the weekends too. They even give passes for people to go down to the beach which is about 3 hours away. PT is no big deal and I was in horrible shape when I got down there. 😱 If I remember correctly we did a great deal of hand to hand combat training for PT. You get about $11 bucks a day for meals which is payed to you after OBC is over so you eat what ever you want. I am not prior service but this seemed pretty generous, how many jobs give you food money as well as a pay check. They try to act like hard asses at first but our Company commander was crying by graduation. You get the feeling that the Cadre really enjoy teaching the Docs and really warm up quick. My biggest advice to anyone going to OBC this summer is...............All my fellow OBCers together now.......DON'T BE LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀
