Would anyone care to comment on army PM&R? I am particularly interested in what the work consists of in the military, possible duty locations, getting profis'd to be a bn surgeon, etc. thank you

I did a few rotations at Reed. The Army PM&R group is an exclusive community, and I don't know of any that frequent SDN.

Walter PM&R is a great residency. With the war dying down, the inpatient exposure is weakened. It still has strong affiliations with Georgetown and Shock Trauma in Baltimore...but the war was the lifeblood of what made the PM&R program special. The EMG exposure is elite, and the other MSK exposure is above average. The staff is dedicated. If it was a civilian program it would likely be top 10.

Can't speak too much about the locations.

When I rotated it was the height of the war...and I believe that the majority of attendings had or were planning to deploy within 1-2 years. They did PCM stuff while deployed.

Thanks for the reply. Congratulations on the residency acceptance and good luck.
