I recently dropped the membership. Not worth the several hundred in annual dues. Midlevel supportive. Pushing ASAM criteria as though trying to be another bureaucratic bloat organization like AMA is with E&M codes (or is it ICD-10 codes?).

To start, their level of care criteria are dumb. I've gone through countless hours of trainings on what level of care patients should be placed at, with nonsensical numbers and decimals to represent these levels at the end of ridiculous equations. These are human beings. And I am a professional. It is not a formula.

They are also extremely biased towards abstinence 'programs'. When most patients don't want that. This obviously creates an array of philosophical, ethical, and clinical dilemmas.
