Have read various posts detailing applicants bypassing the Atlantic Bridge and applying directly to Ireland medical schools. Is this still possible and or advantagous?

By no means is applying directly to Irish medical schools better than applying through Atlantic Bridge, that is if you are from North America. The Atlantic Bridge program will aid North American students in terms of guidance in order to come back to Canada or the US. My advice though is study in the Carib. Two years in the islands and then two years in the US, you can't beat the opportunities availible. Plus easy residency placements compared to other IMGS. I would recommend AUA.

Perhaps if a US residency is your only goal. You cannot do electives in certain provinces unless:

"2. Student must be attending an accredited medical school in the United States, or an approved medical school in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa. We will not accept Canadian citizens attending medical school in a country not listed above."

That's taken from the BC college of physicians and surgeons website. Just because it makes it easier for americans doesn't mean it's the same for Canadians.

from what I have heard and the research that I have done into med schools, AUA sounds like the best choice. I heard they have the classiest prostitutes of any island in the caribbean for a reasonable price.

Obviously a big consideration for any med student.

Fu.cking A, you can do electives in canada from those places. Then fu.ck carib. Go to Ireland ni.gga. And btw, I do not go to any school as of yet, but from what I have heard and the research that I have done into med schools, AUA sounds like the best choice. If I had to guess... I'm thinking you'd make an excellent ethical professional

No, the Atlantic Bridge program is your friend..... trust me.

They simplify applying to the schools. I don't think you have nearly as good a chance if you don't go through them. Plus, they are the most student friendly organization I've ever delt with.

I was so shocked when I was applying and called them up once and they KNEW who I was and all about my situation....

Going through the atlantic bridge program is like having your parents apply to medical school for you. You'll get to know them and they seem actually happy when you get in and saddened by any rejections. At least that's what I think about them!

I had some issues with loans in 2nd year and they helped me sort them out. Peter Nealon also gave me advice on reasonable amounts to budget for living expenses in Cork and how to get a summer job over here (not that I took the latter advice). They are very helpful and friendly to deal with. Cheers,
M
