How in depth is this on the mcat? And do we need to have these formulas memorized? For some reason I don't recall reading over this in my TBR books. I know about the decays/half life, but this is new to me

I have not taken the MCAT yet, but I personally am not memorizing the sub-shell energy formulas.

It is likely useful to know that energy level is proportional to 1/n^2 though.

Binding energy is straight forward. Just know the mass of the parts is greater then the mass of the whole and the difference is the binding energy. The energy amount can be found by using
e = mc^2.
