Hypothetically if one was to have a mock interview with an admission director of a medical school what would be the appropriate attire for both male students and female students.

Thank you!

Business professional.

I went in business professional. I got the impression from interviewers that it wasn't all that necessary but it's still a really close simulation of how you'll feel on interview day.

Something about wearing a suit jacket and tie makes you think harder about your responses lol.

Seriously though, I'd be bus. prof.

You probably don't need the jacket for a mock, but if you want to make it feel like the real thing (it never truly will) you can go all out on the attire.

maybe they tell you that you don't have to do the full suit, but then you will have to think harder about "is this OK or not"

a full suit will never be wrong for a mock interview or a med school or residency interview, so why not get used to interviewing in one now?
that is the point of the mock interview? to try to prepare for the real thing?

For my mock interview that I scheduled (and failed to go to) they told us to wear the outfit that we'd be wearing to our interviews.

I scheduled a mock interview with a doctor I work with and know well, and they told me not to dress up. So I just wore khakis, business casual shoes, and an america-eagle-type dress shirt that wasn't tucked in. It depends on how well you know your interviewer and/or what their expectations are. When in doubt, dress up.

Thanks! My thoughts were khakis and a blazer with a shirt tie. Not quite a full suit. Appreciate the input

When I did my mock interviews, I wore my whole suit. I wanted it to feel as close to the real thing as possible because what you wear can change your confidence and they way you hold yourself. I also definitely appreciated a few practice rounds in my actual suit so it felt more like something that I would wear instead of feeing like I was playing dress up on interview day. Just my two cents.
