3rd year on through residency and beyond really blurs the line between 'school' and 'work'. If you mean sitting down at home with a textbook and reading, drawing diagrams, making notes, etc. like the first two years the answer might be something like 1-2 hours/day depending on the rotation and the proximity to the shelf exam. But your real learning comes from work, rounding, cramming Surg Recall prior between cases, conferences, lectures, and the various times throughout the day that you can find time to crack a book or surf Uptodate about one of your patients' conditions.

agreed, though I doubt I get 1-2 hours/day of dedicated study time.

Say during surgery you might pre-read on cases for a 1/2 hour in the am. The week before shelf that gets bumped up a bit. A rotation like FM typically gives one ample time for reading and, if you're interested in FM, you might spend several hours a day looking up **** on insulin regimens, reading the latest data on antihypertensives, whatever. Like I said it's hard to really estimate though.

You're absolutely right about the attention span thing though. I practically had to staple my butt to a chair to study for CK.
