Away rotation as a mother

I have started finalizing my schedule for 4th year and I will have a 1 month away rotation. I will be about 3.5hrs away from my then 22month old and I am dreading it.

Anyone else every experience this?
What did you do to make it work? Advice?

Never had this experience, but that sounds tough - best of luck.

Do you have an SO who will be able to care for them during that month? Also have you considered bringing the kid with you? I know where I go to school we have a discounted childcare/daycare on campus for med students and residents - not sure how old the kid has to be or if it’s open to away rotators, but it’s be a good idea to reach out and ask the place you’ll be rotating.
