Title is pretty self explanatory. Have an away rotation coming up in Philly and looking for safe places to live. Any recommendations from the SDN community?

You'll be fine most anywhere in University City or Center City. Hip areas like Fishtown, Northern Liberties, and Old City could work. These areas are all going to be relatively expensive. The further out you go the cheaper it gets (relatively). You could look at the City Ave. area (around St. Joe's University and PCOM) or East Falls, Manayunk, etc. You can get to Penn from these areas relatively easily by train or bus.

Less safe areas to avoid would be regions of North Philadelphia and parts of West Philadelphia outside of the areas around Penn and Drexel.

Right around susquehanna and dauphin.

In all seriousness, if you don't mind paying for it, Center City or Rittenhouse square are very nice.

- Center City
- Graduate Hospital
- Certain parts of West Philly: the area bounded by Locust, 36th, Pine, and 44th should be fine

dont worry, it's always sunny in Philadelphia

Just know there's a quick drop off when moving west of Penn. Got a place that on paper sounded OK, and in a week noped the heck out of there and went to Rittenhouse instead. Pricey, but worth it.

You can't go wrong with a place called Strawberry Mansion. With a name like that, it must be nice, right?
