In the never ending pursuit of a perfect match career, I've now come to pharmacy.
I'm graduating in May with a B.S. in General Studies. I'm taking a year off to work and earn some capital. During that time I plan on taking organic chem, physics, and another bio to top it off.
I'm looking at Pharm programs, but it's hard to understand exactly. From what I can understand, there are pharmacy programs and pharm.d. (doctorate) programs, right?
I would need to meet the prereqs, then apply directly to the doctorate program, right?
Is admission similar to medical school in that you take the test, meet the prereqs, and get in?
What are acceptance rates compared to medical schools?

Thanks.

there are no longer bachelor degrees in pharmacy those were phased out over 10 years ago. The only degree you can have and practice as a pharmacist is a PharmD. The bachelor degree you have does not matter for getting into a PharmD program many people don't even have a degree before entering the program as long as you do your prereqs you should be good to go.

Well completing the prereqs is one piece of the puzzle but you will want to make sure you have volunteer activities, pharmacy experience and good LORs to go along with good grades in your prereqs. It is true you do not need a Bachelors but it does help if only a little bit at some schools.

All the information you are looking for is in the FAQ section but yes it is same process as medical school. You take the PCAT instead of the MCAT, some schools do not require the test though, California and Oregon schools for example.
