What is your back up plan if you do not get into Pharm School? I talked to a pharmacists and told me not to waste time and continue taking classes until you get a degree. I am doing Pre-Pharmacy right now but i dont know what should be my back up plan if i dont get into pharm schools.

Any suggestions?

beg the school to let u in, knee down in front of the admission office during the rain/snow and beg until they accept u, that is usually a touching moment but make sure u have tylenol cuz u might catch a cold

Yes, definitely continue on with your classes and work toward a bachelors. At least you won't have to feel like all those pre-requsites were for nothing!
If you don't already work in a pharmacy, consider doing that part time. If you have a more lucrative position and can't afford a paycut, try to shadow a pharmacist or volunteer. This will give you more exposure to the field, give you access to great LORs and definitely boost your application for next cycle.
Don't give up! If you work hard and dedicate yourself to this goal, you WILL make it, if not this year than next year!
Good luck! :luck:

Thanks for the positive remarks. I have my degree and am working in a non-lucrative job (public health). I've always wanted to be a pharmacist. I keep plugging away at the apps and re-taking classes and getting those "good" rec letters. Worst case scenario........I continue in public health with my current credentials and slowly move up the ladder and make a difference. I just hope that I can be a pharmacist and make a difference in the way that I envision. Good things come to those who wait(or stick it out). Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

you can always apply to med schools as well since the pre-reqs are basically the same. never know

would you explain how you plan to "make a difference" in pharmacy. I am curious as I am just looking into the career route. thank you.

I still haven't figured it all out, but there is a great need for public health pharmacists and I think there is an opportunity for leadership in that position. I'm talking about vaccines, antibiotics, HIV meds, and public health issues that could use a pharmacist's voice.
I may change my mind if and when I graduate from pharmacy school, but that's what I'm excited about now.

Well, the only subject I see that could hold me back is English. But if I don't do well enough this year, I'll take it again. I'll basically keep trying until I get in. My sister took 5 years to get into med, so I'll do whatever it takes to get into Pharmacy.

However, if somehow I just don't have what it takes to get a 3.7 GPA, I'm thinking either engineering or pharmacology.

Well, I can tell you that I really like to sell drugs. And imma be a professional drug dealer one way or another. So if I can't make it to pharmacy school so I can stand behind the counter at a retail pharmacy, ya know where to hit me at. 901 Court Ave. some corners... ;)
