I'm such a *****. I got B+ to A+ grades in all hard classes (ie orgo, physics, diffy EQ, etc) but a C in stats and a B- in Astronomy...the reason was that I overloaded in the semesters I took Stats and Astronomy and when finals came around I was so busy with other stuff that I didn't do well in these classes...basically bombed the finals. Consequently my GPA (especially my sci. GPA) suffer tremendously.

Anyone else in my boat? How the hell do I explain this in my apps (2005)?

Just admit your raging lack of personality and the fact that you're asking very gunnerish questions on this board. I am sure Kay Singer would laugh in your face if you asked her what your chances were to med schools with a 3.55/36.

Stop being lame.

I think the admissions committee will understand that some people have bad semesters. I don't however believe that your grades were particularly bad. I think they will understand that statistics is oftentime difficult and a B- is not a bad grade. Just try hard to manage your time better in the future and just accept this as a learning experience.

During the end of my senior year, I often spent much of my time advising for the lower classmen at my alma mater. I was blown away when a student came to me freaked out that she might not get into med school because she got an B in a course amidst the context of a slew of A+ in everything else she did.

She was asking whether or not she should take a W for this meaningless GE course. I couldn't help but stare and blink.

People! Don't freak out. Think big picture. If your GPA starts to go down semester after semester, then worry.

Those are exactly the type of students most of us on here are trying to avoid. The neurotic-hypochondriac. Wait until she gets into med school and realizes it's basically impossible to be #1. She's gonna be in for a rude awakening. :meanie:
