Hey guys so I just got my part 1 score back and did a lot worse than I thought. My composite score was a 79. My GPA is a 3.1 and I am interested in doing Pediatrics. What are my chances of getting in after graduation? Are my chances a lot higher if I do a 1 year GPR first? Please let me know I'm nervous as anything

You never know, but pedo is very competitive, I would retake it, you still have time. I got 88 and I'm retaking it. I'm also applying to pedo. Some schools require that you have a minimum score of 85. YOu would really be limiting yourself.

say if I did a 1 yr GPR, will boards still play a part in me getting admission?

hey sgtsadhu,,
sorry for ur score,,its better to take it again there is no doubt about it !! the thing is have u applied to retake before 2010?????
and good luck,,,because u need to have a good score to get in...
best wishes

Hi wadent,I`m trying to register for the examination.Always it dosen`t allow me to do so.It says credit card failure.what should I do?Please guide me.😕

When are you applying? boards are supposed to go to pass/fail in 2010, or thats what our program director told us. So in theory a low part I shouldn't matter, however it probably will factor in. So if you retake the board next year when they go pass fail your 79 will be equivalent to your classmate who made a 96. if you have a good CV except for you score i would wait and take it after pass/fail.If your CV is lacking, no research, no community based volunteer work ect, I would study and try to get in the 90's which will help you stand out among your colleagues. The main purpose of boards and cv is to get your interview. Once you have that programs will base your acceptance based on personality and interview skills.
