No I haven't gotten much information. I have done some paperwork regarding health forms and consents. Have you found places to live around the area?

My acceptance email indicated what track I was on. So maybe reread that?

Yes I just received the acceptance email and it states what track I'm on. Did anyone have insight on where to find housing or how to sign up for classes?

I just got accepted but on the 2 year track. I wanted to try and finish it in a year... does anyone know if we're able to do that?

I don’t think so... they put you on the track according to your application (transcripts and stats)

It's not bad so far it definitely feels different than in person but the professors are nice and are there to help you! You definitely need to start studying from day one and want to maybe even stay ahead since some classes have more information. I'm currently taking biochemistry 2 and pathophysiology and on the one -year track.

What classes did you take your first semester for the one year track and how many credits?

Hey I was recently accepted too and plan on attending in the fall! Do you know what is the best way to go about looking for roommates and housing? I don’t have facebook which makes it a little bit difficult!

I would say social networking is the best way. I’m still looking for a roommate for the fall.

I agree, I highly recommend making a Facebook account to find potential room mates that are also Barry students. It’s also good to have FB to sign in to BMS meetings if you want to be active in the clubs offered in the program!

Hey everyone! So I just got accepted today. I will most likely be attending. Did anyone else get the email that the program will take place remotely? This kinda scares me. What are your thoughts?

Thats unfortunate that classes are online for another semester, but the campus is pretty much in a hot spot in south Florida, so it’s necessary for the times. Treat like as if you were actually in professional school and do your best! There are still online study sessions hosted by teaching assistants and study resources available for students in the program; it’s still doable!

Hey guys just paid my deposit to go Barry MBS Medical Track, has anyone received their schedules yet ?

I agree, I am also a little worried our tuition will be the same even though most of our courses for this semester will be online. But to play devils advocate, pretty much all the other universities are doing the same. I work in Hospitals in Florida and the regulations for us to just clock in is no joke.

For current students in the program. What’s your take on moving down to Miami despite the program being remote? I feel like having accountability is important, would I be missing much by staying home?

So far I would not move down yet unless you really need to move. They have emailed us stating all laboratories and lectures will be online. The only thing they are allowing us to go to in person are the study rooms, although I am sure there will be plenty of rules to abide by. Ive been living in Miami for 6 years and right now they are shutting restaurants, bars and more businesses. I wouldn't come down yet unless you really need/want to, because not only is it dangerous but there is not much to do at the moment.

Thank you for providing perspective!! I’ll be staying home and playing safe 🙂

Can any current students in the program speak on how Gross anatomy is online?

I started the program in the spring 2020 so we were first on campus
then we switched to remote.

I will say it didn’t change much lecture wise with the teaching style the professor does but the biggest thing once we went remote our tests and quizzes had shorter time frames and we couldn’t go back which caused some anxiety for some students.

Many ppl in the program voiced concern so then they gave us more time BUT we are now recorded when we take exams and quizzes and still can’t go back after answering a question. I personally like it that way cus we still have a lot of time to take the quizzes and exams

Lab was MUCHHHHHH easier! So that’s a plus. The TAs had to basically find the structures and place it on a PowerPoint which gave us wayyyyy more study time cus usually in lab in real life we were given 2 hours to find the structures and on Friday we had open lab to finish finding structures we couldn’t find during lab.

Also I’ll add my perspective of this program so far. I’m on the 2 year dental track. I think the program is actually really great. Be prepared tho to really work hard cus your goal is to get a 3.7 gpa overall so As should be what you aim for.

I feel the program director and the assistants really work hard with giving us ample resources to prepare us. So many schools come to our school and give their perspectives on how to prepare and what they’re looking for come application time.

we also have personal statement workshops and the clubs on campus give a lot of volunteer events and shadowing opportunities if you need it.

Only con is there is no MCAT/DAT prep included with the program

I think all the professors grade and test fairly. If you study and put the time you’ll be okay cus I personally don’t think any of the professors try to trick you at all. Ppl get upset at times but I think some students didn’t take the studying seriously in the beginning of the semester and then they may have to play catch up. It’s A LOT of information they give you but staying on top of it, you will be able to succeed. Good luck to you all!

Does anyone know how many students Barry is accepting for the Spring? How many did they accept for the Fall?

Is anyone here applying to BArry in the Spring? I am currently in the process and am worried about the statement of purpose part.

not sure how many they accepted but there was a 110 of us new comers
How important did you feel the 2 statement of purpose questions were? I am really stressed over those because they are supposed to substitute a personal statement and I don't know how long they are supposed to be and how important they are to admissions.

Sorry i can’t seem to remember the statement of purpose questions... what were they again?

Don't worry about it lol I already submitted the application. I was just freaking out.

Hello! I attended and graduated in 2019. From when I was there, the Spring class was approximately half of the Fall class. Generally tho they do not get as many applicants for Spring from what I was told. Most students take Gross Anatomy first (unless they start in the summer), and in the Fall there are 2 classes offered and in the spring there is 1 offered. Each class I believe had space for 60 students.

no linkage programs for Barry but apparently a lot of students get into NSU and Tufts.
