I really am starting to think everyone interviewed and not accepted was waitlisted.

Yeah, me too...Are any of you guys considering withdrawing your application form BCM?

i didn't have any contact with baylor between my interview in october and now... just got the alternate letter with the little note. does anyone know if writing BCM a letter even helps, or are we already in a ranked list and they're just going to pull people off the top as spots become available?

I'm thinking about it...I got a nice scholarship at the school I'm already accepted to, and as much as I want to go to Baylor (it has been my dream school since I started looking at med programs) I want to avoid debt even more.

Plus, I'm sick of rushing home from work to an empty answering machine. Kinda kills your ego after a few months 🙄

My letter was dated April 5, 2006....the little handwritten note said " Name, thank you for continued interest in our medical school.....initials"

nothing too special, but enough that initially gave me hope, until pretty much everyone also got it. OH well

No, I'm in for the long haul. Just a question about Texas schools and BCM. I thought i read something where if you had an acceptance from one of the other Texas schools and a waitlist at Baylor, you had to choose only one of the by the May 15 deadline (either the texas school and no Baylor, or waitlist at Baylor and no texas school).

Am i totally making this up or has someone else read something of this nature???

hey BaylorGuy, June 15th is the last day you're allowed to hold acceptances at more than one Texas school, according to the TMDSAS site http://www.utsystem.edu/tmdsas/Acceptance-MatchInfo.htm .

After June 15, no medical school in Texas may offer a position to an applicant already accepted by another medical school in Texas. This is the result of an agreement between the four UT System Medical schools, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, and University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth College of Osteopathic Medicine

No worries, I didn't get one either. It seems like he replied with a handwritten note to those who wrote a letter of intent.

Thanks Potato....i know i read something about that, but its good to have it down in writing/print. Whats gonna be difficult is that i'm leaving the country in about a month and it'll definitely be interesting to try and have contact with the med schools while i'm over there.

i got waitlisted too. if they did waitlist everyone who interviewed and assuming they handed out 200 acceptances(lil over the class size) then maybe 100 ppl will get moved off of waitlist. but probably less than that though, during the past months they probably got some declines already. so, we have 1/4 chance of getting off of the list. they really should tell us our rank though. what's the harm in that!?!?!?!??!

Is it really May 15 or is it June 15??? I read something on TMDSAS that said we have until June 15 to choose between schools/waitlists in Texas. Damn, did i read the wrong thing???

No worries Jewel, May 15 is the day that ALL of us holding multiple spots have to make a decision which ONE acceptance we want to keep, though I already released my other one shortly after the match. We can stay on BCM's waitlist until the 15th of JUNE and those who hold an out of state seat can stay on the list until Baylor's OR their own orientation begins.

Dang you jewel for riling me up and getting my blood pressure up. Its good to know its june 15 again though. Its gonna be hard for me to make my decision from overseas though. This is gonna be interesting.

I'm in the same boat. I'm gonna be on the other side of the world mid-May through mid-June and am planning on having my brother keep an eye out for messages. Are you taking a cell phone which'll work wherever you're going? I'll be keeping mine on 24/7.

I'll be taking a cell phone, but i'm pretty sure it wont work....however, i'll try and jimmy-rig something together that'll mimic phone conversation hopefully. we will see

yeah. you can watch their lectures online. not sure if its broadcasted live, but it is definately available.

Thanks for the fast response. Is it in a format that can be dumped in an iPod or is it streaming only?

This makes me more difficult for me to decide (UMich vs. Baylor)... Baylor is cheaper and warmer but I like the people at Mich more. And a major deciding factor was that Michigan recorded lectures.

There are not streaming, but are put up online by 5pm the day of the lecture. You can also speed them up with Enounce, and watch them at 1.5 or 2x regular speed. They cannot be put onto iPods or anything like that. We have tried in the past, but for whatever reason, they don't want to make them into that format. Whatever - it's best when you watch them with the noted provided anyway.

If you really wanted to put lectures on your iPods in mp3 format, it would be pretty easy to watch the lecture once on Realplayer (I think that's what Baylor students watch their lectures on) while recording it with Audacity (a free software you can download). You could then convert it to mp3 using Audacity. I do this all the time when I find cool, live versions of songs that I like at "sessions @ AOL". I just record the songs with Audacity and then convert them to mp3s.

I called their Financial Aid Office...They said they've been having problems with a computer glitch, so they haven't sent out financial aid to anyone. They said it will probably be in about a week before it gets sent out.

What does that mean? I interviewed at Baylor back in September and still not a peep (bastards!). I did get accepted to UTSW. So, Baylor has until June 15th to offer me a place (being a TX Resident); otherwise, I am removed from their waitlist?
