Thanks for the update on class size. I also should mention that after my initial post I checked the Admissions site and found that last years class size was 172

Usually when med schools call, they don't just hang up on you. Unless the dean is a 'breather'.I just got a freakin call from a number that said UNKNOWN while we were out at dinner.
When I picked it up, no body answered me and it eventually hung up! They still haven't tried again!
I am freaking out man
...it was probably a wrong number, but it's too much of a coincidence that it said "unknown"...thats what they do right?
can anyone tell me what the order of the status page is? right now, my "application is complete, and will be going to committee to review in the near future." Is there anything on there beyond an "application reviewed" phase? For whatever reason, no matter how long I stare at the screen, nothing changes...
I think it stops after the review is complete and then you just wait around to hear about an interview. my application went straight to committee after being complete so i never had a near future message. perhaps that's because mine went straight to the trash. but who knows.
A friend of mine got the call Friday last week.
There was no interview last friday. When I interviewed there they said that the adcoms met at five on interview day to discuss and assess the interviewees from that day. I imagine calls will go out monday and potentially include people who interviewed today.
Thats my guess and I am sticking to it until some one has a better idea.
ok so how impressed was I today during my interview? wow!! baylor is awesome.
(I'm late not because I submitted my application late but because of my stats.)
I'm interviewing there on Nov. 19th. If they only send out about 300 acceptances (to fill a class of ~175), and I'm on the seventh interview date, and they interview 60 people per date, I'm in the top 420. I don't think the interview would be enough to bump me up to the top 300. I have a 33 MCAT and 3.87 GPA, with extensive research experience. Do you know of anyone with similar stats who was not a URM who got accepted even with a late interview date (as late as November)? Is there any hope for me or is all hope lost because I am so late? (I'm late not because I submitted my application late but because of my stats.)

^Thanks for the optimistic reply.
I'm just worried that it doesn't matter whether or not I interview now. Since they work on a score-based system, I may already be very behind due to the fact that my initial score (based on my stats and EC's) was low to begin with. They don't tell you how much the interview counts for, and I'm guessing it doesn't count for a huge amount. So, my final score is already going to be hindered. Even if not all spots are filled now, it hardly seems to matter-- only the top scores get selected, and if my score is already low and the interivew counts for little, my score will not be able to get an acceptance. I'm guessing the majority of acceptances comes from the initial interview dates, and the only reason anyone might get an acceptance from the November or onwards pile is because they just applied late.

She wasn't a URM, was she? I don't have spectacular EC's (mostly research, one publication as an author though not primary authory in a major journal, some volunteering, shadowing, and some leadership positions). I mean I haven't liked saved someone from drowning or anything. (I'm also Indian-- there are ten billion trillion gazillion Indians in medicine.)
Bowtie-- what are your stats if you don't mind me asking?

They don't tell you how much the interview counts for, and I'm guessing it doesn't count for a huge amount. So, my final score is already going to be hindered and probably already pretty much determined. Even if not all spots are filled now, it hardly seems to matter-- only the top scores get selected, and if my score is already low and the interivew counts for little, my score will not be able to get an acceptance. Let me illustrate my understanding of the system. I don't know how it works exactly but I think I remember this formula from somewhere:
GPA*10+MCAT; That means for me: 38.7+33= 71.7; Let's say the interview counts for two points and I get all two points. So say the interviews up until now have only been given to people with greater than 74 scores. So, even if I were to end up with a score of 73.7, what if all the people who have interviewed so far have had 74's? That's 420 people above me on the list with greater than 74's. My mobility on the list is limited by the maximum 2 points given for interviews. So, I'm pretty much screwed before even interviewing, and interviewing can't even make up the difference for my low stats, and the only reason I'm being interviewed is so they can stick to the official story that they don't fill up all their spots until the end of interviewing season or so if by chance all 420 people reject their spots, they will still have students like me who want to go there.
Don't worry TheSky. Before you were worrying about an interview invite.. and you got one. Before you know it you'll interview and get accepted 😛
I'm still waiting (at this point probably in vain?) for my interview invite 🙁
Quantifying your app in this way is a nice way to spread FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt). Just note that during the discussion of the applicants, your score will change up or down. Asking how much is really impossible as only the dean of admissions knows that.
You'll get an interview invitation in the next batch, I can bet you anything. I have determined this in a reasonable, scientific way, so you can expect an interview invitation soon. See, on 10/19 I know someone who interviewed with a 35. On 11/2 we known Jolie South (I hope I got this right, sorry if I didn't) who interviewed with a 34. On 11/16 I'm interviewing with a 33. They probably have a lot of 33's, so they probably have to spread them out over a few batches of interview invitations. So, they're probably still sending out invitations to us 33'ers. I wish the best of luck to us 33'ers!
