YAY!!! Congrats REALMD I know you were waiting a while like I was 🙂 WOO FUTURE CLASSMATES! Merry Christmas everyone!

At first, Santa did good bringing me a Baylor acceptance. Now, Santa had to go and make my life complicated. Both Baylor and UTSW on the same day? It's like a fairy tale!!!

While this thread is back up, i might as well ask...

Does anyone know where we send fall transcripts and when it is due?

Same place we sent our transcripts for our interviews? I'm wondering about the "due date" as well, since my transcript has an error that needs to be changed and will take some time.

Oh, by the way, for those that were accepted via phone call, did you guys get any snail mail about your acceptance? I didn't get a phone call and all that was in my envelope was a "Congratulations" letter and an acceptance form. At first, I even thought it was fake because I thought there would be more!

Yes, I got a snail mail about my acceptance about 2 weeks later.

We need to send transcripts? Where does it say this?

All it says is that we need to have our transcripts sent. No timeline about when they expect them. It was on the acceptance form which you probably already mailed back to Baylor. PM me if you want me to e-mail you a scanned copy.

I see. No, I didn't mail the acceptance form back becuase I'm undecided on Baylor.

The deadline is May 15th for mailing the form back, right?

I was under the impression that you're allowed to accept now and withdraw later... Am I wrong? I thought you had to give them some kind of notice in a timely fashion and put down your deposit or they automatically assume you would like to go elsewhere. Isn't that the point of the deposit in the first place, to hold your place?

As for May 15th being the date to mail the form back, I think that is WAY too late. I know that should be much earlier. No exact date really, but that seems like too long. I guess you can call to find out.

Note: I don't mean to scare you or anything, but this is just my impression of how things work.

Thanks.

I called, and they said that the May 15th deadline is for both the form and the deposit. Because I said I was still undecided about Baylor, they recommended that I hold onto the form.

Hello,
My school e-mail is down for a few days. Could someone please let me know the address of where transcripts should be sent for people who will be interviewing. Thanks for your time and help.

Oh, we can hold on to it for that long? Does that mean sending it in is a firm committal then? 😕

Good luck on your interview!! 🙂🙂🙂

Thanks I got it sent. Now for the hard part. The interview.

Baylor interviews are easy; they want you to succeed. Just do your best and you'll be fine. By now you probably have had other interviews, so you should be all set.

Hey guys. So for those of you that got the call how long after it did it take for you to get your acceptance letter? thanks 🙂

um im confused now about the form/deposit? which of them means commitment to attending baylor? im still not 100% sure that im going there next year... i thought we could accept multiple offers during this time period...

Since I never got a call... forever! My letter was dated 2 weeks ago, so I'm guessing it takes roughly that long. Good thing they didn't call during finals! 😛

Best thing is to call them and find out. I'm thinking it's there to help keep track of who is accepting and declining acceptances.

so do we send our transcripts to the same address we sent the first one before the interview? Also does anyone know if there is a deadline?

Congrats to the new Baylor acceptances!!!!!

Do you guys mind stating when you interviewed, and also whether you're out of state?

Thanks!! And happy holidays!

I am confused about this as well. I sent in my form to hold my seat but have not decided to matriculate. I hope they didn't interpret it as my matriculation. I am still waiting on offers from a couple of other schools.

Here is my take. However, you may want to follow the official instructions from an authority figure (not me):

You can change your mind. Even after you send your deposit you can change your mind after May or whenever. However, if you have sent your deposit and change your mind, you lose the deposit. In addition, it really helps everyone out if you decide within a reasonable timeframe and don't change your mind a week before class starts.

Personally I would send the form promptly unless I was very sure that I wasn't interested.

I hear there's this UTH housing complex that's incredibly hard to get into. Anyone have info on that? What it looks like from the inside? I know i visited it during my UTH interview, but only the gym. Thanks!

Just to clarify, I'm still interested in matriculating, but haven't made my final decision yet. Waiting until I hear from all the places to which I applied.

Thanks for your input! I'm going to check with the office to make sure.

I know some BCM students who live in UTH housing. I don't remember hearing about it being difficult to get into. The people who live there seem to like it. These housing preferences are very subjective. If you called UTH (I seem to remember them having helpful websites about who to call) they should be able to get you connected to the right people. Their GYM is also nice and several BCM students have memberships there. If you have any trouble at all, let me know and I can get you more information from the people that I know who live there.

Just to let everyone know, the form sent to accepted students is indeed a notice for intended matriculation. Checked with the office.

I know Baylor students there. It's nice (they're huge), convenient, and reasonably priced. There are no pets allowed. It's tough to get into. They have a day that people come in and sign up to be on a list to get a spot. There's a major line early in the morning supposedly.

Great... seeing as how I won't actually BE in Houston when the waitlist opens. 🙁

I too know people that currently live there, as well as people who have been on the waitlist to get in there, so I can confirm this. My friend did eventually get off the waiting list, but for some reason he turned it down. I think he was like number 2 on the list, and he still had to wait for awhile.

Ohhh Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) I do not plan to apply to Baylor but I just wanted to add that my undergrad experience at Baylor was amazing! I was the first student to go to Baylor for the summer internship (SMART program; Summer Medical and Research Training) the name is so fitting. We were the SMART students! hahaha Anyway I gained so much from the 9week program. The atmosphere at Baylor is one that you cannot find anywhere else. Congrats. to those who get accepted (MD or Phd).

hey there,

so my status page says:

"Baylor College of Medicine interviews from September through February.
You are eligible for interview consideration through February.
Records are updated every 24 hours."

does that mean I'll be considered for interview through February? This doesn't actually mean I've got an interview there, right? 😕:scared:😕

Actually, your really only eligible through the end of January as mid-February has their last date to interview.

Any idea when the last date is for interviews being sent out? I know I am not a stellar applicant, but I am surprised/confused as to why I've heard nothing from Baylor. I even applied very early..... sigh 🙁 (33/3.8)

I would also like to know when the last interviews will go out. My status page has said they will let me know something when they are able forever. I'm pretty sure it is time to give up hope.

From reading last year's posts, they sent out interview invites until the end of January for mid-February. I'd probably say that Feb. 15th will be their last interview date with actual rejections coming out soon after (as far as I know, they DO give them out).

I know Baylor's season is longer than other Texas schools and that they grant interviews up until February, but at this point am getting VERY antsy. I interviewed in September and so far no love from Baylor. Do you guys think the time is appropriate to send a LOI, or should I wait on it some more. This is my dream school and without it I feel incomplete and I want them to know this, but at the same time I don't want them to feel that I'm a neurotic kiss ass. What to you guys think?

has anyone been accepted since december? going crazy....

i posted this on the republic of texas thread, but has anyone gotten any recent interview invites for baylor??

i'm not a very strong applicant, but am still holding onto some hope that I'll get an interview at my dream school.

does a LOI actually help at baylor? Seems like it wont change your rank on their magical list. i would think it would only help BEFORE they rank you (which is the day of your interview)

hey i have a quick question about actually getting a Baylor interview...

I've been complete since early October, and for a while now my status has said decision made, we'll let you know as soon as possible. I'm thinking that because its already Jan. and I haven't heard anything, i'm probably looking at a rejection.

Does anyone know how long Baylor interviews for and maybe it always takes this long to get interviews? Basically, do i still have a shot? I'm out of state, but have decent numbers/ec/lor.

It's going to come when you least expect it (seriously). Of all the days of the year, I got my acceptance letter on December 24th. I thought it was fake until I called the office a week later! From the students I talked to when I interviewed, they said someone had gotten in the day before classes and has 24 hours to decide (they were going to a CA school before). So... have hope!

As far as I know, they actively encourage updates to be put into your file. Whether it's just a LOI or something more, I would think they would actually look at them and take them very seriously.

While the interviews go through mid-February, the last invites are given at the end of January. I can say that your chances aren't 0%, but it is close to do-or-die time. 🙁

Baylor interviews until mid-February, I believe. For what it's worth, I had a couple of friends (TX residents) last year who were complete mid to late summer, and they didn't hear anything until January (both got invited to interview on BCM's last day). So you could very well still be in the running.

Did anyone get an email from John Rapp ("Congrats on your acceptance to medical school...") who was NOT accepted to Baylor either by phone, snail mail, carrier pigeon, etc (interviewed all the way back in early October)? I'm wondering if I somehow got this thing by mistake. =P

Am I slowly but surely getting the boot from this beautiful school?

I don't know but I'm sure it couldn't hurt. I remember when I had my interview there, one of the students talked about one of her classmates who called the admissions office after not hearing back for months and months and expressed her desire to go to the school and eventually they accepted her so i guess you guys can take it for what it's worth. Anywho do you guys think it too early?
