Hi,
I'm in the midst of starting second year and I just was wondering if anyone had any good tips on improving surgical technique. It's frustrating sometimes to work with different attendings who have different styles and being told the way you do a procedure is wrong when it's perfect for someone else. How do I get more dextrous? Any advice would be awesome!

Remember that residency is an apprenticeship & its very common to feel this way after the first year of residency. Just try to get in as many cases as possible (including repeat cesareans) and the experience will follow.

Personally, I focused on laparoscopic trainers as well as stitching at home. Get a needle driver, some suture, and a piece of cheap meat... practice your throws and hand movements in your spare time.

Best of luck!

Xbox or PS3. Not joking these increase dexterity like crazy and they are a good stress relieve.r
