After long waiting bench extension has been approved
just want to know how many of you took or will take any course praparaton and if yes which course ucla duggan...
or just practicing yourself
any recommendation....????

Hi ,

We are going to have a meeting on Dec 30 in Losangeles.The subject is a petition to address Dental Board and the copy of that will go to Assemblywoman Gloria Negrete Mcleod and Governor Schwarzenegger .If you eagerly concern about the future you must get involve seriously.Whoever get this email please reply me before Dec 28 whether you will come or not.

To find the appropriate location for meeting let me know where you are living

Hi Wident,

You have a great coach. Dr. Thaw was my teacher for the bench last Nov. He knows me as Georgia. I am flying to see him in April as he is again coaching me for Part 4. By the way, fyi he's also a great singer! :laugh: Study hard. 🙂

hi mommy r ..i want to ask did u take duggan's class too..or only dr.thaw classes and how important is dr. thaw classes if already have taken dr.duggan's classes..tahnks mommy r

thanks mommyr..do u know whether Dr.thaw comes to LA or not?if not i think after ur experience i have to fly for his classes in bay area...becos i also have not practised since almost 1 and half year..all the best for your part 4 ... :luck:

Yes I took Dr. Duggan's 3 month course as well in Jan 2003 but when I didn't get called for the bench for a year and a half I stopped practising. Beleive it or not I did not practise for 1 year and I had 17 days before the exam last Nov. to practise. Dr. Thaw taught me for 2 weeks it was like I started from scratch bec. I forgot everything. I think more is always better. Dr. Duggan gave good teaching as well. Actually while I was with Dr. Thaw for 2-3 weeks I took 3 mock board exams with Dr. Duggan as well so I studied his videos at the same time.

Hi william, I guess I will see you in April when I see Dr. Thaw. I am coming on April 5 but I don't know when I am coming over. I'll call Dr. Thaw when I get there in 3 months. Study hard!

he maintains a clinic there but it is run by an associate...i'know he is staying in san jose mostly and so if you want to study under him you will need to stay in the bay area...if you can't then you have to do lots of dr. duggan's mock boards i guess

I just finished sorting through my stuff that I used for the bench. Let me tell you, the whole experience was so nerve wracking that as I threw old casts, wax patterns and prepped typodonts that I practised with my heart was pounding remebering the stress that came along with each prep... I saved a duplicate cast that was my back up cast during the exam with my 3/4 prep. I don't know why since just looking at it makes my heart beat faster, it will always remind me of the gruelling experience and God's grace.

I am a foreign trained dentist from India and I want to apply for
the Advanced Program for International Dentists that is offered by
California Dental Schools. I would like to apply for the DUGGANS Gateway program to train for the practical test administered by various CA Dental Schools. I would like to know if any one enrolled in the DUGGANS program to prepare for the practical tests administered by USC, UCLA, UCSF, UOP and LLU. Please let me know if anyone found this program useful. The fee is around 8000USD for the Gateway program and I dont mind spending it if it helps in the practical test but I dont want to waste the money if the program is of no use, the DUGGAN website mentions that the Gateway program is useful for students trying to do well in the practical test administered by CA dental schools,

Yes, I just heard that the board started to send out a few, not all, confirmation cards two weeks ago. I hope I get mine. I hope all of you get yours, too. Good luck.

The DBC has posted the reference numbers of the candidates for the April exam in their website. I am not there 😡 But I am not losing hope. See if you can find your numbers in the list. Good luck.

for the ones that have been selected. Guys, does anybdyu knows how many candidates are gonna be sit for the April Exam, I though were 250, and in the web there are so far 54 posted. Please could anybody be so kind to confirm the amount of candidates for the exam. In the menatime I will keep my hope very high...Good luck for the next ones like me waiting for our numbers be posted in the web during the next days...

WHAT IS THIS BENCH EXAM?
IS IT THE SAME AS THAT HELD IN SOME UNIVERSITIES ALONG WITH THE INTERVIEW FOR ADMISSION TO DDS?

I heard someone got the confirmation card again after he failed the Nov test in 2004. More than that, he failed the first test in 2003. Can you believe that, what the dental board is doing?? This is more than unfair to me who applied from 2002 but no chance, and to anyone alike me.
Who can help us?

I want to know is there anyone whose name is not in the 54 list but got the confirmation card, thank you.

when i took the exam in Nov 2004, right after the exam a representative from the DBC explained how they select candidates for the exams, she said they randomly choose 150 from new applicants and the rest from re-examinees

hey from what i know dbc is sending confirmations in small batches and everyone should recieve confirmations by 15 th feb. all the best to all u guys waiting for the bench.

congrats on getting ur confirmation card..

but was ur ref. number already listed on the CA dental board website "before" u got your card ?

i know someone in here mentioned that they are going to mail all the cards by feb. 15th and its quiet possible for the card to get lost/delayed in the mail .. so im wondering if they also going update their online list immediately incase the cards are lost/delayed in the mail ..

also, all those who got their cards, what do we need to send them apart from the application fees ?

All of u who got their confirmation cards does it say on it if u r supposed to send your fingerprint cards. i sent mine for the november exam and dont know if i need to send em again.i trieed callng the board but keep getting voice mail from the persn incharge.

Hi,
Could anybody please confirm what the application fees is? Should i write a check to "The Dental board of california" for $ 500 and also attach a new Live scan finger printing?? I applied for the november exam and got in this time..Is my earlier Live scan form still valid or should i attach a new one?

I too called them now and they said that if i had sent the live scan earlier,then there is no need to send it again.Just send them a check for $ 500..

if ur fingerprints r more than six months old only then u need to submit them again.i think if u submitted in nov then u dont need to submit it again.

$500 if you had sent live scan along with your application and $556 if you had sent finger prints.If your fingerprints are more than 6 months old,you need to submit $556 and a new set of fingerprint cards.
The money order should be made payable to "The Dental Board of California".

hi all ,

Did anyone receive their confirmation card in the mail even though their Ref Number is NOT POSTED on the DBC website ? there are still only approximately half the number of ref #'s posted on the website.

I was wondering if it is safe to assume that those of us who did not get the conf. card. as of today are not going to get a chance to take the April exam .. Can anyone please shed some light on this ?

a friend of mine called dbc ...they said that ALL confirmation cards will be sent by march 2nd week or so.
so while someone got their card in jan others will get in march and have little time to prepare really really hard. unless u have that card in hand it is hard to stay focused and motivated to practice for bench.
i don't know why dbc takes so much time just to pick 250 candidates from the applications they already have with them . this is so unfair. 😡
