Hi all,
Congratulations to all those who took the last exam and Congratulations in advance for those who will be passing the exam.

I had to withdraw my application for the last exam due to personal reasons. I would now like to re-activate my application for the next exam in Nov this year.

I would appreciate if you could give me some details and some tips (iIf any) to re-activate my application to be considered for the next exam.

thanks and warm regards
Sadanand

this wait is really killing me................anyone got their bench results yet??? it was out in 2 weeks last time & its over 3 weeks now!!!!!!!!!!! 🙁

today i talked to dental board people and they told me that the result is gonna come in 30 days from the day of exam.when i asked that last time people got result in 2 weeks then she said this is not gonna be same this time.

in short, we r going to get result late.so guys just relax.

yep......i just heard from them too.......acc to them results r gonna be out this week......so lets keep our fingers crossed................

Hey, Guys:

It's me again. I'd like to tell you about what DSI recently sent me. It is an invitation to enrol in their Clinical Licensure Review Course for summer. I am sure many of you have received a similar letter, but let me vent out my displeasure over this sales pitch.

The letter did not help me with the emotional strain that has been churning inside of me for the past weeks and months because of the bench exam. I am sure DSI knows this is quite true for ALL the candidates. DSI has been in this business for so long already...All of us are anxious over the results and then here comes a letter with my reference number beside my name. Of course, nobody aside from myself and the board knows, or cares about my reference number. So who would I think the letter came from?

But then there was no return address, so I did not find out who it was from until I opened the envelope. And there it was...an invitation from DSI to spend a non-refundable $3900 to enrol for the Part 4 review.

I understand DSI needs to make money out of their review courses, but I think they should have waited till the results are out before sending out any letters regarding their review courses. IMO, it is not proper for anyone to preempt the Board regarding the exam results. I think the gesture was done in very bad taste. Either it gives false hopes that I may have passed the exams, or it is actually giving me a hint that I did. And that is not good for my psychological health!!!

I, and all the others who received this letter deserve an apology from DSI. I hope it doesn't happen to the next batch of examinees.

I'd like to hear from others who have received this letter.

Ivorinedust: I can sure understand your anger and feelings. I am suprised to see that letter too. I don't think DSI need such marketing, as everybody taking bench very well know about them and will make their own decisions irrespective of any advertisement.
Have you heard of dental offices calling their regular patients during their down times ?
By the way what DSI stands for ?- Dollars Sucking Institute ??

its not the first time this is happening....... my friends recieved them last time they gave the exam & not only from DSI but also from the dental schools.....& the worst part, they put both the bench & the clinical brochures in.........so whats one supposed to make of this??? if u pass take clinical if not take the bench classes again??? a win win situation for them....

hi ivorin,explorer,lanande and pretiwoman
as i want to take bench exam, would you please tell me did you take any courses like DSi or UCLA are they useful? what do you sugest?

I didn't took any long term course but I did attend Duggan's mock boards a couple of times. If you have no idea about this exam, taking a course or rent the video will be helpful.

What happened at last? Did your friends all pass the exam?

hi yasi
i took the long course from DSI. its really helpful. i have no idea abt the ucla. but duggans course really gives u a new approach towards the way u do the preps, & it actually helps u to be prepared for anything that could possibly go wrong. i would recommend it to anyone. but people have passed even without taking any classes. so it all depends on where u stand regarding ur work.

They have contacts within the exam committee, for sure. And this is what adds intrigue to the whole thing. It gives you the impression that they have "insider information" about who passed and who didn't. Why would they start the letter with "Dear Clinical Exam Licensure Candidate..."?

But then in the end, it is just a marketing ploy that adds insult to injury to those of us who received this letter but failed the exams, once the results come out.

Bottom line is, DSI should have been more sensitive about other people's situations and feelings. The marketing is ill-timed and someone at DSI needs to get a licking!

I couldn't agree you more!

Hello Ivorinedust,

think from the other aspect, you probably passed! that's why they sent you this letter. You should be pleased.

Ivorinedust,

I would not mind receiving this letter, even if it is for a moment of comfort and reassurance. It buys me peace of mind for a while.

You have to know that supply is driven by demand. I am sure many who passed took that paper to sign up for the course, that's why board sends more, DSI pays more to have them sent to candidates. We are the true driven force. It is like those telemarketers, they do not mean harm, they don't intend to bother you personally. We are the reason why these phenomena exist. Do not take it too personally.

you are on good path

DSI told me they send the letters to the candidates who took the exam, but they don't know who pass or not. Anyhow, we'll recieve the report soon.

To take the bench you needed to have submitted your part 1 and 2 national board scores in 2003. At present, the only way is to do an advanced standing or international dentist program in a dental school for 2 years and then take the boards

thanks aparna
i will look into the foreign dentist programs now and apply for that.
Thanks.
Good luck

I got my result - average 76. failed in cast restoration #2.
I guess I passed.... Why the %^$%^ they sent me "dental licensure application for re-examination" form?
Anyone else got that form?

Hi Matrix,
Congratulations !! I have received the same form also. It says specifically that I am eligible to take the licensure exam now and that I have successfully completed the RT exam. The scores may be low ,but the average is all that counts.Congrats once again !!

Graduates of non-accredited dental schools who have already passed the California Restorative Technique (RT) examination should apply on the Application for Re-examination form.

so we need to fill only application for re examination form.

pls check information guide.

i hope this clears the doubt.

Thnx ashamurali, shruhtee 🙂
What are everybody's scores? Is there any statistics about pass/fail rates?
Did anybody who got Duggan's aplication for licensure exam training actually fail the exam? It would be very nasty to get his letter, get the hopes up and then get failing score. I dont think I would go to his course then 🙂
Congratulations to everybody who passed... 🙂)

what do they mean by a couple of days more???????coz when we inquired they told the result is already out and they have already mailed everyone... 😕

thank god, i passed also! it seems the board examiners have been very lenient in grading this batch of examinees. i was pretty sure that i would fail because my wax pattern was a big mess. i also know of others who were not really prepared to take the exam at all, and they passed also! could it be that they actually passed everybody? does anyone know of anyone who took the exam and didnt pass? i know this will make me sound paranoid, but what if they made a mistake and accidentally sent out the wrong test results? *scared*

yeah true................everyone i`ve heard of until now has passed. people did say they r gonna be lenient this time.....& it sure looks like its true....... though i havent got my results yet........
