I know it's an old question and you must have replied to it a dozen times but i wish someone could help me with this situation ..
I've completed the NDBE I and II in May 2001 and for some reason I had to return home . Now , I wanna take the bench test in Cali but i don't know if my board scores are still valid or do i have to take the tests again ?!?!?
It came to my knowledge that the bench terminates at 2008 and the DBC receives no more applicants now , only the ones who applied before 2003 (?)
So if cali is out of question now , what other options have I got ?
Please help ...

well here is the thing.. dbc made it very clear that only those who have given part 1 and 2 upto dec 2003 are eligible... and so that made you eligible,but the catch here is all those who were interested in giving the exam,had to submit the applications.. so dbc accepted some 2500-3000 applications... all at one time,and then they put up the refernce numbers of those people. to submit those applications their was a dead line.. which is has long gone.. so all those people who's refernce number is displayed on the dbc website..only those will be eligible to take the exam.. and for each future exam they select about 250-300 students from that list which they already have...so if you had sent them your application once and if ur refernce number is on their website..then all u have to do is wait for them to come out with the list of aaplicants for that exam...but if you didnt send your application and you dont have a refence number..then my guess is that you may not be allowed to take it..because they were very clear with their rule that all those intersted should send their applications.. if you go to their website..ai am sure you will be able to read it on their rt exam links.. all what i am saying is from what i have read on their website.. i may be wrong and they might accept more applicants..since you did clear the part 2 before dec 2003 so that make you eligible.. but you didnt send them ur application before their dead line.. so instaed of asking us .. we might misguide you..and you might miss ur opportunity to give the bench.. the best thing would be to call dbc and tell them ur scenario and i guess they will be able to guide you and tell u if they will accpet ur applicatiopn or not.. u have to have patience to call them..coz they dont ever call back even if u leave mssg's so u have to keep trying.. the best time to call them is in the morning at about 9-10 ..so call them and ask them if u can send a new application since ur refernce number is not with them..
and all the other students..please dont get confused..becuase i am just answering shiko.. regd his ques.. rest dont get confused reading my reply.. all of us who's refernce numbers are with dbc dont have to send any new applications..when they post a dead line and tell us to send information/application..means they want us to send the fees or some fingerprinting stuff..or for those who had with drawn their application for a particular exam and now their name has come in the current exam..they will have to send back whatever material they may have taken from dbc..like the degree,etc... we dont have to send in a new application everytime a new exam date is out.. if they expect a new application everytime a new date is put out..then its too silly.. because then what they did previously..made all of us 2500-3000 people send our applications..that would make no sense..so i dont think we have to keep sending applications evrytime a new date comes up.. i think the dead line is for paying the fees etc.. for all those who have been accpted for that exam.. but i may be wrong.. after all dbc is known for its irrational ways...

I have a problem with my bench exam application,I want to know I have courese by course evaluation of my transcripts ,can i send them instead of translation?
Because the translation must be done only in US and i think it costs about 300-400$ .

i just called the hawaii dental board and they said that effective may 12, 2004 they will NOT accept any new applications for the hawaii bench exam for foreign trained dentists..

I think before sending out confirmation cards for the exam, they should first set a filing date. And they haven't done that yet.

If the board still has to set a filing date, then keep on accepting applications , then start deciding who will take the exam , then start sending out confirmation letters, this way some people will receive confirmations ONLY FEW DAYS earlier.
This dental board is a BIG failure!!! 😡

Guys,
Not to put you in a panic state or anything but I also got a confirmation on Friday and when I callled to find out about the fingerprinting I was told that if the cards are more than 6 months old fingerprinting will have to be done again. I am in California so, I just procured a livescan form yesterday from a friend and will re-do my fingerprinting again. Please doublecheck all of you to be sure. It's nerve wracking, the way these guys manipulate us!

the live scan forms are found on the dental board website. But u have to search for them and print them. This is another thing that shows how unorganized the board is. If they know that we need these forms to do the live scan, why don't they include these forms with the application just like the finger print cards??????

I guess there are still people who didn't send their application before the previous exam, either cause they were not ready or maybe they r out of the country.
I don't think that all the people who are eligible to take the exam have already sent their applications.
However being confused is very normal when u r dealing with the dental boarxd of california. Confusing us is the thing they do BEST! 😡

thanks a lot .. i found the live scan forms on the dbc website.. for all those who need the live scan forms u can print them out of the website and not deal with those dinguses on the phone ..

just go to the home page and on the top right hand corner, type "live scan form" in the search window .. the form is right there, the first thing in the results..

regarding the application, i had called the DBC about a month ago, & luckily could talk to some one, she told me that people who have filed their application before the 2004 deadline need not send another application again. the applications will be considered for the next exams untill teh candidate gets a chance, UNLESS anyone receives a cancellation letter from the DBC due to any reason.

comming to the application dead line, initially even i thought that may be they will announce the filing deadline & then after some time the confiramtion nos. my next thought was could it be so that the deadline would mean for sending the exam fee once we receive the confirmation card ???


for the last exam , i mean the april one, i think the first post in this thread was posted on jan 27 th that someone had received the confirmation card. this time its less than 2 months remaining for the exam but no news. now i have started thinking is there going to be an exam in november at all ?????

does anyone know if re-examination applicants have to "re-submit" new finger print cards ?? in the fee schedule for re-applicants it doesnt mention any fees for fingerprints. however, the footnotes mention that if an applicant has sent in their application with finger print cards AND if it has been over 2 years, then you should submit new fingerprint cards.


This is directly from their website under "RT Exam Schudule". how do u interpret the fingerprint card submission for re-applicants .. i took the exam in aug. 03. then re applied for the re-exam in sep. 04 last year, but i didnt get to take the test.. . so im not sure if that is technically counted as an "application" or not as i just submitted it but wasnt accepted to take the test.. and since its sep. 05, technically its been 2 yrs since i took the exam ..

THE FEE SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS:


Initial Appln Fee $250.00 Re-Examination Appn Fee $75.00
Examination Fee $250.00 Examination Fee $250.00

Someone told me that it's still a bench exam, ie the articulator is not in a mannequin. But they might give a bridge prep and Cls III & IV and there will no longer be a lab part (the part we do the wax up). Cls II's will still be part of the exam. There are rumors I heard that they might bring in natural teeth to prep on. ...But no one is certain when this new format will start. They will standardize their criteria for grading for these new stuff...
