just want to know how many of you took or will take any course praparaton and if yes which course ucla duggan...
or just practicing yourself
any recommendation....????

Hello Everyone ,
I was wondering if your NDB scores expires after a while , I took the NDB I&II back in 2000 and i am now thinking of taking the benchj exam in CA or the Minnesota license .
So my questions are :
1.DO I have to take the NDB again to apply ?
2.Do they take new applications in CA or just the ones that applied before can take the exam ?
3.Does anyone know more details about Minnesota ?

Thanks a lot
Shiko 🙂

I don't know if they expire go check the DBC website. Yes they take applicants for the bench if you cleared Parts 1 and 2 before Dec 2003 and go to the Minnesota Dental Board website for info. All of your questions can be answered by doing a search on the respective websites.

Any news on more bench exams per year?

Hello,mommyr

Pleased to see you here again! I couldn't log in till today.
Our meeting was amazing as you said. Hope we can get togather more often.
Regarding the girl who get in U of T, do you know her EE score?

The girl who got in had a score of 84 for her EE and the other girl who passed both interview and practical exam but didn't get in bec. they said her score wasn't competitive enough was 81. U of T called about 75-80 people for the test and accepted 25. They're also changing the questions next year I heard so don't rely completely on old questions.

I don't want to apply at U of T though bec. you do not get a DDM degree after, just a certificate of completion. Therefore, should I fail the bench I will rewrite my EE next year and apply to UBC, U of Alberta or Mannitoba who will grant the degree so hopefully I can move to the U.S. and be eligible to sit for the california clinical exam. At least one can be eligible to practise in Canada or the U.S.

Everything is overwhelming. I am trying to take each day as it comes bec. that's all the strength I have left being able to live day to day. I cannot even begin to describe the mental and emotional stress I have gone through with all these exams, not to mention my huge credit card debt so that I have no choice but to work as hard as I can as a dental assistant to pay off all those debts each month... I average 10 hours working each day, I am out of the house by 7a.m., I drop my husband at the train station and my 4y/o daughter in school, I drive 30km one way to work . I get home at past 8pm with no dinner and still have to attend to my family's needs... I hate to complain bec. God has been gracious and I am thankful that at least I have work and a car and a family...I am just exhausted...sometimes I ask myself how far I am willing to go and going back to my home country is always something I will consider if things don't work out...

I am inspired by Sam's story with his failures and eventual triumph and I am encouraged by Megg's selfless devotion to see us all succeed by her helpful info. links and tips...

To my SDNer family...thanks for being here...believe me, I am not normally mushy like this but somehow lately I have not been myself, I have been a bit sad and the result of the bench is due to come within the next 2 weeks, may God have mercy on me and for the rest who continue to struggle.

Thank God , finally u gave me what i want.
This morning i got mail from DBC & i passed bench exam with average score 81. I was on sunday group and all the preps are not so easy i think. #19 DO design n outline form is not easy to do and amalgam curving gave trouble . I started wax pattern on 3:30pm and only 25min to get it done, i should take more time for waxing .
I studied in Dr Duggan school for 12 days (3 month) course. I studied in Dr Ryan Thaw when i waiting for the bench exam confirmation, i learned many things from him, the credit should go to him .
i am specially thanks to my friends , Dr Joe, Dr Jack, Dr A Thant, and Mr Moe, for sharing knowledge n support, i may not successed without all u guys.
good luck to all people waiting for coming up bench exam.

congratulations mommy r and michale...its party time and relaxing time for u surely..so when u get time please throw light for making 19 DO...thanks and enjoy

Check for student loans, some finantial institutions offer loans to people who are in the application process, which you kind of are. Check all the links in the Fin Aid section and everywhere else you can. I'm pretty sure any bank will be willing to lend to someone they know is going to be a doctor. It's a safe return for them. Good luck again! :luck:

#19DO.... i did the normal CL 2 outline form on 19 D0 , after that i removed the distal cusp because there is so called undermind enamel at distal cusp. Normally lingual side exit angle is ok and clearence is about o.5 mm , but buccal side exit angle have problem from pulpal floor to the occlusal cavo-surface angle , there is undermind enamel (due to enamel rod direction) from exit angle to the distobuccal groove, so that u have to remove all the undermind enamel until the groove reaching to the disto buccal cusp.
Finally u have to cut away entire distal cusp, leaving big space / clearance in buccal side from occlusal to the pulpal floor. Normal exit angle 0.5mm for the pulpal floor to the gingival floor. For that prep , amalgam curving is difficult too, pay extra care for the inter-proximal curving.
u can find in book STUDERVAN ( not sure spelling), page 455 reduction of cusps .
if you want to know more detail, pls contact to my instructor DR : Ryan Thaw.

I am delighted to hear from you Meggs. Guess what I am studying Spanish. I know it will be an advantage when I move to California. My Dad is from the Bay Area specifically Pacifica. I'll be staying with him maybe starting perhaps April until June should I get confirmation for the June Exam. I'll let you know so we can meet one day.

At the moment, I just feel so exhausted. Still so exhausted. I was out late last night and I start work early tomorrow. Have to go I feel so tired.

thanks a lot ..and if u can please give me some contact info of DR.iRYAN THAW..if i am not wrong he is an instructor in dr. duggan's class?..i really appreciate your help..

Hello everyone,
Congrats to Mommyr & michael for passing the bench. Good news is that i was also in exam on sunday. And I got my result yesterday. I passed with 77 average. I don't have enough words to thank Lord. I am in such a relief. If someone wants bench material then please let me know.
All the best to those who are waiting for bench.

Hi everybody,

Heartiest Congratulations to everyone who has passed the exams....and good luck with everything for the future...

hey guys,
congratulations to all those who passed the bench.
I too was in the sunday exam and am highly pleased to pass the exam.
I think it was all due to the good wishes of family and friends that i finally made it.
I think god has been very kind to me as i know so many ppl waiting for this exam since many years and i made it at my first application.
as far as 19 Do is concerned , i made a normal cl 2 with .5 mm clearance leaving some undermined enamel coz i thought to get rid of the undermined enamel i had to sacrifice the whole distal cusp which would not be acceptable for the bench ( even though it is the right way to go in clinical practise). and i got a very good grade for the cl 2 but i am not sure if that was what the examiners were looking for so guys do your research for the next exam and be prepared for all kinds of odd preps.
good luck to all who have been waiting for the exam and hope u all make it soon.

Hi Everybody !

Regarding the proposed changes to the RT Exam, here's the information i have:

I have managed to speak to someone from the DBC and asked about these changes specifically. I was told that these changes "have been proposed by the board " ,but it takes several steps for these changes to actually be implemented. The person who answered me then told me that it is not expected that these steps would have taken place soon enough to make the changes in April. i.e it is unlikely that there will be any change in the April exam.

By the way if u try to call the DBC and nobody answers at the extensions u know, start making up extensions formed of 4 numbers. Be creative!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE PASSED THE EXAM!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US WHO ARE WAITING TO TAKE THE EXAM!! :luck:

Hi Everybody,

First of all i would like to wish everybody happy holidays and a very happy new year! May the coming year bring all of us success in the long awaited Bench Exam!!!!!!

Second ,i'm planning to take the bench exam course soon , so i was wondering if someone could tell me what air processor i should buy? Please give me the model number and specifications because i only have 1 week to buy all the equipment and materials i would be needing for the course.

Is any one of you going to be taking the bench course at UCLA in January?

Thanks!

Hi everybody ...
Well, I'd like you to correct my info ...
It came to my knowledge that West Virginia is opening the door for foreign trained dentists to get licensed !! I was wondering if you heard the same thing or not ..
Thanks a lot 🙂
