txdentist,

DBC requires the ff by Oct 14,2005

1. Payment $500.00 - Personal check, money order, or cashier's check
2. Livescan if you reside in California. DBC enclosed a livescan request form & list of the agencies that provide the service.

Hope you get your confirmation letter soon...

Hi,
Shouldn't the live scan have been submitted with the application? Do they need a new one?

is there any body who hasn't sent her/his application for bench exam yet?
why DBC didn't accept new application for this time?

hi everybody,
i was wondering if anyone who finished their part 2 around november have received their confirmation, as i was thinking if thats one of the criteria for DBCs selection of candidates for this november exam .
& also when DBC says oct 14th is the last date for sending the exam fee, does it mean we give up our hopes say in another week r so ????

Hi,
I've just sarted a new thread in which the people who have been selected to take the nov. 05 exam can tell us when they took the ndb part 2 and when they applied to take the bench exam.
Please give this information in the other thread. Hopefully this will help us understand how applicants are selected.
Thanks!

has anybody know about the new format of Bench Exam for 2006 ?
also about the times the exam will be held in next year?

still waiting for the letter and have not received it.. am thinking of calling the board..

is it possible to call the dental board and ask them to check if our reference number has been selected for next months exam ? do they give out that information on the phone ?? has anyone called them yet and found out ? last time they put the ref # on their website..

thanks ..

Hi,
On the DBC website they have changed the status of NOV. exam to closed.
Hopefully they will soon post all the reference numbers selected for this exam.

Good Luck!

Hi
I am interested in buying some of the instruments like burs, handpiece adaptor and some typodont teeth if you still have them.

Please let me know as soon as possible as I have very little time to practice

Thanks

my friend got to talk to someone at the board and was told that they have only selected 125 of the 250 canditates for the exam. they said they are still selecting the remaining 125 candidates and will mail out the letters next week and they will give enough time to mail in the fee etc..

so the good news is there is still a chance for people to get the letters..the bad news is there will be no time to prepare for the test..

The one we submitted with the application is fingerprints on a card. This one takes a longer time to verify with DOJ & FBI because crossmatching fingerprints will be done "manually". Live scan is computerized and gets faster results. Livescan is required for CA residents only.

what if I already submitted a live scan with the application, do I have to send another one with the fees, if I'm selected to take the exam?

Thanks!

hi txdentist,
i guess the person whoever got to talk to someone from DBC is really lucky, cause the worst part is to get thru, if u do then half the work is done. i was wondering which extn no did u r friend call ?? i have tried line n no of times, but only get answering machine.
& also is there anything like people who have been chosen so far r all first timers r repeaters r anything like that ?
does anybody have any idea when the DBC will post the nos on the website ??

yes sadanand
all the candidates whom i knew all of them r first timers.and now i think they r sending confirmation to the old candidates.these dbc guys r very rude on the phone i asked the lady when she is going to post it on the website she answered in such a rude manner she said when u guys stop calling me only then i will get the time to do all these works.

sadanand,

i dont know which extension my friend was able to get through but this is what they said.. as of wednesday, 10/05/2005, they sent out 125 conf letters.. they are deciding on the remaining 125 candidates and will notify them next week ..

sumitysharma,

to answer ur question, my friends cousin who is re-taking the exam got a conf. letter last week .. so i dont think they are inviting "first time exam takers" only ..looks like its a mix of candidates..

Hi All,

I want to get the new kind of impression gun for the Nov 05 Bench exams. Please let me know if anyone has it and wants to sell or rent it. I will appreciate a qucik response.

Thanks

I was lucky to get a hold of Virgina at the dbc and asked her about my reference number. She told me that my number was not in the list for this exam, she was nice enough to check my file and told me that my number was getting "close to the cut"..maybe for the next exam..... 🙁
She mentioned a big board meeting coming in december and that many changes will happen for next year... 😕
I told her how painful it is waiting while many of us are working as a dental assistants.. 😳 +
I hope they consider that in the next meeting.. 😛

Good luck to all the ones taking the test in nov.... :luck:

do you know about the format of next rt exam?

i have checked on the site for possible changes in the coming exams... when do you think it'll be implemented... have the changes been noted in the last scheduled RT exam?

Hi,
Only 211 people were selected. aren't they supposed to examine about 250 applicants each time? Is it just me or did the board reduce the number of examinees together with the number of exams they hold each year?
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks!

hi futuredentist ,
this time the exam is at usc and it has capacity for only 211 thats y there not 250 but only 211 candiates '

hi greatdentist,
i guess the info about change in the exam format thats to kilgore typhodont has been on the dbc website for a while now, so i actually wonder when this change is going to imply. cause i remember reading it sometime in 2004 aug r so.
when i called the DBc today & asked when the next exams would be announced , she told me sometime end of december r say jan 2006.
i think we should still hope the same old pattern unless its mentioned that the pattern will change.

also from the same link,

does it mean we will be doing class 2 on the usual columbia typho ???

On the DBC website they claim that they selected 252 applicants to take the bench exam in august 2003. At that time the exam was also held in USC. 😕
So either USC has changed the place assigned for the bench exam or the DBC is actually trying to decrease the number of people taking the exam, by making 2 instead of 3 exams a year and also decreasing the number of examinees!!!

I wish you guys the best in this exam coming. I did not get my confirmation card for this exam again, I called the Board and they told me that I was not scheduled for this exam, one more year out of three waiting for. My best is with all of you, the best for you William, and know everyone is gonna do it great.
Some info I got from the call was that they have scheduled 2 exams the next year and the Board is trying to add two more exams, making a possible total of 4, the firts one looks to be hold in April. I asked her about the new format for the RT and she told me that is gonna be adopted, and they are gonna let us know wichs parts are gonna be change and adapted, but is a true that they are gonna change the format since the next exam in the next year 2006. The good thing is that we are gonna be well trained for the Clinical Exam after we take the RT with the new format. The best for everyone and God Guides all of you...

no .. i think they mean that all the preps have to be done on the new kilgore international typohdont, but it should be "mounted" on a columbia aluminium head or its "equivalent" , whatever that means .. the typhodonts generally can be mounted to a rod that goes through the round hole on behind the lower typhodont jaw.. then rod can then be connected to a dental chair or just to a table to simulate a patient sitting in a dental chair..

I took UCLA 4 years ago followed by clinical the same year,I've been already practising for 2.5..UCLA with Stevenson is pretty good, but you need to be VERY ready & have all your instruments ready for when they start they gear up at a very high speed.BUT IT'S VERY STRONG.while on the other hand,if you want more time to practise in between classes & go on a slower pace AND YOU LIVE IN CA or have the chance to stay there for a while,go Duggan.

Finally my time of waiting is over...How i feel?...exited! that waiting was like nightmare...you don't know when is gone!
Just i want to share my emotion...and wish to all my colleges in the same way good luck...
I have one advise for all who still in the nightmare...Keep practice no matter if the next bench is in manikin or in the monster with two heads, the true is the hands have to be in good shape and performance...just be ready for your time!
