just want to know how many of you took or will take any course praparaton and if yes which course ucla duggan...
or just practicing yourself

I was wondering if the content is the same as whta we have in the cassetes, then wouldn't it just be cheaper to convert the VHS tapes to DVD? Isn't $750 atrociously pricy even to be shared?

i had some doubts about the equipment for new RT exam .
i am looking for the maniquin, i enquired in duggans , they said that all we need to buy is the maniquin (thats the one sold at duggans costing $500) , this one has no rubber cheeks. however the dbc website sa ys that we also need rubber cheeks.
has anyone bought r ordered this one from duggans ?? do we need to buy extra fletchers (rubber cheeks) ???

I know the Dr. for 3 years and he is very good, as well is one of the more affordables courses for the restorative tech. exam, and the materials always are the necesaries and you can get it from the place that is more cheaper for you. You do not have to buy them from them, as UCLA, UOP or Duggans does with their courses, is two months ahead the exams as well, is gonna give 2 months to prepare yourself and get any doubts clear during this periods, as well always the Dr. is open to check your preps after the course is finished without extra charge, he is a great person and excellent mentor. here is the info if you are interestes, Dr. De Leon (ask for Alfredo) 818-920-2215, try to call asap and reserve a spot, because is gonna full very soon. I have a silent compressor for sale, it comes with the foot pedal and hose. I bought it from Dentalair for $1100, now I ask for $500. It is still in pretty good condition, I used it totally less then three months. If you interested, pm me.

I dont have any to sell, but do as I do...wrap a sheet of rubber dam on both sides of your typodont. That might work while you are waiting to buy the "Fletcher Mask"

I talked to somebody from the Dental Board and told me that they will start sending the confirmation cards this week.

Doctors, get prepared and well informed about everything. I see there is a lot of confussion about typodonts, courses, dvd's, cheeks, etc.

This is what I know:

Kilgore typodont: Is not available on the market right now. Some people have ordered it from Duggan. I ordered at UOP (through the internet). I ordered two, one to practice and the other one for the exam. I know, it is a lot of money...the total was $500. something. The other way is to buy a regular Kilgore typodont for $160 directly from the company.

I already saw the Duggan's dvd's. They are just OK, but very expensive.

Courses: I am going to take another course in UOP in March. It is going to be a week course.

Cheeks: It is very important to practice with the rubber cheeks...it is completly different from what we were doing before.

I live in San Francisco. If somebody is interested in discussing the RT exam, let me know.

They also have another model Kilgore typodont very similar to the one we will use for the exam.The diference between them is that the one for the exam was specifically ordered by the Board to the company (Kilgore) and has some teeth (I do not know exactly which ones) made out of an acrilyc type material and resemble a natural tooth...with enamel and dentin. So, when you will make the prep it will show how deep you are and where your margins are, etc.

I have been practicing with the old Columbia typodont but today will go to UOP and get the similar model I talked about above. I also talk to somebody in UOP(store) and told me that the Kilgore typodont for the exam will arrive from Japan in March. I know Duggan is giving the course with the regular Kilgore typodont and a friend of mine who is taking his course told me that the Kilgore typodont is very different from the Columbia, especially at the interproximal contact, which in the Kilgore typodont is located more occlusally and buccally. So, it is less difficult to break contact but at the same time you have to be very careful when preping the interproximal box for the Class II amalgam.

Now, as I wrote yesterday, it is very important to practice with the mask because retracting the cheeks while you prep is pretty tough and it is better if you get use to it since the beginning.

By the way, where are you guys from? Yasi and Sadanad? Have you taken the RT exam before?

hey ,where have everybody for the r.t. exam gone ,there is no communication for the last two days ,are we all going to sit and wait for the exam date to approach or are we going to do something about this .

every week when i contact them they say next week it is going to be on board website but there has been no change ,so if anyone is interested let us know and we should be able to do something !!!
