Golden Gate Dental has closed. The owner retired. It is now replaced by SF Dental supply, run by friendly Filipino businesspeople. Met the guy Henry recently, and he is super. Their store moved to 437 Rozzi Place #102 in So. SAn Francisco. 1-888-283-8189 or (650)877.8183. If you are anywhere near San Francisco, they might deliver your order for free, but I don't know the minimum order required for that.

"Apolonia, relieve my toothache!"

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the information. i really appreciate it.

Hi guys ,

I have questions regarding can we allowed to go to USC for practice ?

Is the lab open during weekends ?

Where is lab located in the building ?

Thanks in advance

Just got an email reply from Dawn ..... let the drum rolls .... 🙂

They will schedule 500 seats for November, and there are roughly the same number of candidates that reapplied. Therefore most likely EVERYONE will be scheduled for the November exam (if not at least on standby list)!! So everyone hit the practice bench now!! With this more manageable number of applicants, I guess CDB will also be able to keep their promise of 4 trials per applicant.

Did not asked her about the measurement criteria, nor the exam format. Can some other kind soul email her and post the answer? I feel I have used up all my karma already and am not going to stretch my luck.

Happy day indeed!!

Thanks for the update, Engr. Tengu. I heard that at least one of us applicants has received a confirmation card already. Gotta go...and cut some teeth!

A friend of mine went to Sacramento and she was told that the DBC received 530 applications in total. Pretty much everyone who sent an application will take the RT exam in November.

Good luck to ALL OF YOU!!:luck:

530 new applicants? Are you talking about the peoplwho sent their application for the first time?
How many applicants are still waiting for the bench exam in total? including
4th timers?

Thanks!

From what I undestand a total of 530 applicants including first, second, third and fourth timers.

Does anyone remember what was the description gien by the board in the April exam regarding the expectation for the class III prep.
Thanks in adance

Hi...
I needed few advice regarding the composite restoration Cl 3, on the kilgore typo......i have heard since the contact is so light and small it is difficult for the examiners to grade it....and they think its open even though it might not be........Is it true or its a rumor....anyone working on kilgore please help me with it.....I am planning to stick to kilgore for te Nov exam......

ALSO ANYONE SELLING KILGORE EQILIBRATED TYPO FROM LAST EXAM.......I WILL BE INTERESTED......

thanks

check ur pm.. i have sent u dawn's id... u can email her .. i did but she hasn't replied yet.. so good luck...

Could you please pm me Dawn's email address?

DBC informed me I has been selected for Nov exam this year. However, I cannot get back to the US until this Dec. In my application form, I did mention my prefered exam date is in 2007. I had to send my application before September because DBC announce something like:

"The application filing deadline for the fall 2006 to 2008 RT examination is September 5, 2006. Applications must be received at the Board no later than 5:00 p.m. September 5, 2006. If you wish to take the examination at any time prior to December 31, 2008, please submit an application now."

Today I check the DBC website and see "The filing period for the 2007 RT Examination is December 1, 2006 through January 7, 2007"

Because I cannot seat for Nov 2006 exam, does it mean that I will lost one exam attempt?

Class III is much smaller and looks a lot different from the way you prep on a coulmbia. Check your typodont keeping it in front of you at eye level and looking with one eye. Look straight into the interdental spaces between 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, 9-10, and 10-11. make sure there IS contact. If not tilt the teeth to get contact.
Hope this helps. Kilgore is definitely harder to work on

hi you can email dawn and let her know abt your unavailibility...and also that you had opted for 2007 exam......you have to do so 15 days before the exam date ....you will not lose a chance ...... if you fax to them abt your unavailibility.....the fax number is ..916-274-5970....and ask them to pardon you from this nov exam....it is not a problem. so don't worry..🙂

Actually I suggest ALL to try their best to make the Nov exam, especially for those taking the exam for the first time.

1) A bird in the hand is much better than two on the bush. One never knows if things will change in the future. Try to overcome any minor inconvenience of taking the exam in Nov.

2) If CDB can accomodate ALL canditdates at each exam date, then it will be likely that there are only 4 more exams (5 the most, 1 in 2006 and 2 more each in 2007 and 2008). As the number of applicants dwindle less resource will be put into the bench exam by the CDB.

just my 2 cents.

As i can't take exam in Nov,is that possible the format of the exam change again?

I agree!! time is short so it would be best to get started ASAP. I have had an overwhelming response for this. We can get started with practice sessions this friday ( 29 sept). For fee information please e mail me directly at [email protected]. My practice will be open on WED sept 27 between 6-8 p.m for sign ups for the time slots and to see the place. Plan to be there as slots will fill up soon. Address is 414 s main street, milpitas, ca 95035.

Hi warriors, I hope you are practicing and getting ready for the exam this november. I want to share some info that I got from a friend, I don´t know how true it is, but always is better be ready for anything that could comes up than get caught with the pants down.

>Dear RT Participant:
>
>1. I just confirmed with the executive director of the dental board
>and a board member that the website update on the RT exam is in
>error. Specifically the website mentions the one of the assignments
>may be a 7/8 crown. This is incorrect. The 7/8 crown has been
>indeed dropped from the assigned prep list.
>
>2. The website states that the amalgam may be just a preparation
>worth 100% and this is not true. It may also be a prep and
>restoration.
>
>All of the information that I gave you in my June update is still
>correct and the website information mentioned above was in error and
>will be corrected soon. Please don't be concerned and rest assured
>that the information I've given you is accurate.
>
>Keep practicing and stay tuned for more information.

Well, if we remember that Dr. Stevenson standed up for the RT candidates and made the 7/8 prep be droped, because is no more clinical application, and HEADS UP with the Amalgam filling.

Good look and keep practicing...

How are the sequence of preps? class 2, class 3, cast preps? Do the examiners grade you first for amal and comp preps before restn? Thanks

i don't know the sequence, someone who has ucla,or uop sequence please post it..
they don't grade in b/w the exam, coz u cannot remove typo from manikkin,so u have to do a comp prep, and then another one and restore one.. it will be mentioned which is prep and which is restoration, same if amalgum comes,u will have to prepare another class 2 and restore it...

Here is a nice link from USC , that could help to clear any doubts about Class II, III, and IV Composite,Preparation and Filling...I hope the link still working by the time you click on it...Cheers, Good Luck to everyone...

hi,
1. regd full ceramic crown u do angle the shoulder, but not as much as u do for the PFM. u need to give enough to get a blend/merge at the same time if u bevel it too much the ceramic will chip off with acute edge.
2. clinically u bevel the gingival floor for both composite & amalgam , but for RT u dont for either. i hope u meant for RT!!
3. there is no exam sequence as such. the way i did it,
did the class 3 composite restoration prep first , just to get the feel of speed & touch. then the class 2, crowns , class 3 prep only.(so that i could take the impression & pour the cast to check the draw. the cast can be allowed to set during the class 3 prep).then compo restoration.
4. i didnt get u r Q4 ...?
i hope this clears u r doubts.

Q4. do u remember the exact question for the class3 composite prep, someone told me that they gave exact measurements as to how the class3 should be,and they stated that the decay was at the contact..or something like that.. i don't know, what exactly they asked for class3 prep..,the reason i am asking is,that during the meeting the board people said that most of the people who failed the composite section, was because they didn't read the question properly...
anyways thanks once again.. if u remember the ques please post it...
