After finishing my first year and planning on taking the MCAT's the summer after my sophomore year, planning on doing so because I will finish all my pre-reqs by the end of the year. I have heard that the Verbal section of the MCAT is often the most challenging and the hardest section to improve. Because of this I am considering beginning to prep for the verbal section since its the only section I can actually prep for in advance, seeing as I still have yet to take course in O Chem, Biology, and Physics. For those who have used Examkrackers, I've heard it's one of the best prep books, for the verbal section which do you think is the most useful,

Just use the Examkrackers 101 passages. It helped me out a lot. I raised my AAMC Practice scores from an 8 to an 11 on the real thing. The other book is useless for the most part unless you do not have good mental math strategies. Good luck to you!

101 just has a lot more practice, which is what you want and need to become better.

I found that I got the most out of this section by just doing passages over and over. Reading about techniques to use didn't seem to help too much. Getting used to the types of questions is the biggest thing here. I improved from like a 6 when I hadn't studied yet to a 10 on the actual test. Answer: do what gives you the most practice passages and be sure to take lots of the AAMC practice tests.

You need both, one teaches you the techniques and the other allows you to put those techniques to practice, they go hand in hand.

After reading the first one once, I never bothered looking at it again. It might be helpful if you need some math skills.
EK 101 is a must.

has anyone found the 101 passages to be a bit arbitrary? i've just started them and have been getting quite a few wrong with unsatisfactory explanations. are they similar to the real mcat passages, or do the SAT or LSAT critical reading sections better mirror the MCATs?

On EK, i'm getting 6 to 9 wrong for the 60 questions whereas this winter I was getting 0-2 wrong for every 40 questions in LSATs and got an 800 CR for LSATs
