can you recommend a comprehensive neurology book for non-neurologists?

one that encompasses most conditions, their treatmant as well as general neuroanatomy/physiology, but that is not too heavy on cases and imaging?

thanks!

Okay this is a first...

I actually have a recommendation for you, though.

Try "Neurology In A Page" by Blackwell publishing. The authors are Jon Brillman and Scott Kahan.

The Martin A. Samuels Neurology Review for Primary Care Physicians

Also, I think Harrision Neurology In Clinical Medicine is a really good book for non-neurologists and beginners in Neurology. (Sir, danielmd and typhoonegator, and others could you please comment on it ?)

I'm afraid I've never used the book you asked about. It seems reasonable enough from the link you provide. I would caution spending too much money on a neuro book if you're not a neurologist, though. About $20-35 should do the trick. There are plenty of good resources out there.

Also, I would think that for a non-neurologist in residency, the Samuels review series set is a bit expensive. Of course, they look fantastic despite the price. Perhaps the IM department could purchase a set for your entire residency class to watch?

Neuroanatomy through Clinical Cases by Hal Blumenfeld is one of the best textbooks I've had for any subject. There are cases and imaging but they are all sorted as a Clinical Cases addendum to each chapter so if you don't want to look at them you can easily skip them.

Note: I am a premed now but used this book in a grad-level clinical neuro course taught by a med school professor

Not bad.

I am a 2nd year neurology resident now (well, as of July anyhow) and also use this book for my training. We reviewed Blumenfeld's cover-to-cover. It is excellent. 👍
