Best strategy for c/p passages

My score on my C/P is weak but its not that bad. Main thing is I'm spending too much time on each question. How do you guys approach passages? Do you read the whole thing and try to understand the figures? Or do you skim and go to the questions. How much time do you spend for each?

I'm finding that on alot of official practices that the time you spend on the figures or thoroughly understanding equations is wasted. Thoughts on this?

Understand what each figure is about and what it's trying to say. Trying to understand each little part of the figure itself may be a waste of time because sometimes, the figure isn't referenced at all and isn't necessary to do the questions. So figure out the figures as you go through the questions. You need to know the general gist of the figure and the main point just so you know which figure to go to.
