Biden Out of Race

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is just amazing. Warren Buffet is well into his 90s and sharp as a tack. Have you really not had an aging family member with obvious cognitive issues or AD? Seriously? The dude literally has a shuffling gait.

The job and economic growth under Biden has been heavily driven by government spending. In other words, it's artificial. It certainly hasn't been driven by innovation and job growth in the private sector. What do you think that amount of government spending leads to? Well, that's a perfect lead in for the next point...

Inflation is LOWER under Biden? What fantasy world are you living in? Look around yourself man and compare it to the life you were living in 2018. The local donut shop where I live charges over SIXTY DOLLARS for a DOZEN donuts.

Immigration reform? He has opened the border and his far left cronies literally stood on the stage in 2020 and raised their hands saying they wanted to decriminalize crossing the border illegally. That is a thing that happened.

Everything you are saying amounts to, "don't believe what you see with your own two eyes." Yes, you're running cover as hard as you possibly can.
True that Biden has had cognitive decline

Yes, that job growth under Biden has been driven by SOME spending, but Trump spent more than Biden and unemployment rate was ~15% when he left office. If you believe covid has tremendous effect on unemployment rate, sure. But you gotta it has some effect on inflation. I am kidding myself here, because I know you gonna cherrypick.

The left is terrible on immigration, but there was a bipartisan immigration bill that was sponsored by one of the most conservative senators that Trump killed.

Republicans are terrible on the economy. The only 2 economic policies that they talk about are tax cut and decrease regulation since I have been watching politics.

Democrats are terrible on immigration.

If you are voting on social issues and immigration, republican should definitely be your pick. But on the economy, dems gotta be your pick because they have done better on ALMOST every single metrics than republicans in the modern era.

I have only voted for republicans, but I call it as it is.

I condemn violence in all forms. I condemn J6 but I also condemn the violent protests of BLM, of which Harris supported and helped fund raise for. Are you willing to own that?
*sigh*

One was literally an attempt to overthrow our democracy and orchestrated by the disgraced former president. Insurrection. Treason. Call it as such.

The other example was a social movement that had criminals co-opting it for their personal gain, which by the way Harris and Biden both condemned. Did Trump condemn January 6th? No. He did the exact opposite.

Stop equating what happened in Minnesota with what happened in DC.

If you really want to blame a global phenomena that was going to happen no matter what after a global pandemic on one man, go right ahead. But if you are going to do that, then you also have to give him credit for the fact that the United States has done better than almost every other country on earth when it comes to combatting it.

And you have to be shopping at the bougiest donut shop on Sunset Blvd to be claiming that a dozen donuts cost $60 😂

This is just flat out not true. Plus, there was bipartisan support to help alleviate issues at the border and Trump told the Republicans to shoot it down.

If you want tougher border policy, Trump is not the guy. He accomplished nothing he campaigned on when it comes to immigration policy. At least the Democrats (and the not-brainwashed republicans) are trying to fix it.

You are going to hate this. Watch the second video, the longer one. Trump “unequivocally condemned” the violence. Please stop spewing ignorance.

Lol. Gotta love politicians

The same guys who beat up police officers that he wants to pardon?

Just related to the violence on January 6th, this neglects the following information:

- Trump's speech prior to sending his supporters to the Capitol: He told them to “fight like hell” because if they didn’t, they were “not going to have a country anymore.” Not everyone who left the Ellipse did as the Commander-in-Chief ordered, but many of them did. The fighting intensified during the hours that followed.

- The 187 minutes between the end of President Trump’s speech and when he finally told the mob to leave the U.S. Capitol was a dereliction of duty. In the U.S. military, a service member is deemed to be “derelict in the performance of duties when that person willfully or negligently fails to perform that person’s duties or when that person performs them in a culpably inefficient manner.” As Commander-in-Chief, President Trump had the power—more than any other American—to muster the U.S. Government’s resources and end the attack on the U.S. Capitol. He willfully remained idle even as others, including his own Vice President, acted.

- The President tweeted at 2:24 p.m., at the height of the violence, that his own Vice President lacked the “courage” to act—a statement that could only further enrage the mob.

- In testimony before the Select Committee, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley explained that President Trump did “[n]othing,” “[z]ero” to marshal the Government’s resources during the assault on the U.S. Capitol.

- President Trump’s closest advisors—both inside and out of the White House—implored him to act sooner. Earlier in the week, two of the President’s most trusted aides, Eric Herschmann and Hope Hicks, both wanted President Trump to emphasize that January 6th would be a peaceful protest. President Trump refused.

- At 2:38 p.m., President Trump sent this tweet: “Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!” Sarah Matthews, the White House Deputy Press Secretary, told the Select Committee that President Trump resisted using the word “peaceful.” The President added the words “Stay peaceful!” only after Ivanka Trump suggested the phrase.

- There’s no question that President Trump had the power to end the insurrection. He was not only the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. military, but also of the rioters. One member of the mob, Stephen Ayres, told the Select Committee that he and others quickly complied as soon as President Trump finally told them to go home. “[W]e literally left right after [President Trump’s 4:17p.m. video] come out. You know, to me if he would have done that earlier in the day, 1:30 [p.m.] . . . maybe we wouldn’t be in this bad of a situation or something,” Ayres said. [additional testimony corroborating this follows.]

All of this bothers a lot of people, but it's not even the worst of it IMO. I find the months long campaign against the election's integrity and the actual subversion attempts via the false electors plot to be worse Presidential actions.

Show me the video where he says he wants to pardon the violent J6ers? I brought my receipts, how come you guys never deliver?

"John McEntee, the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, also testified that in the days following the attack, he heard President Trump mention the possibility of a “blanket pardon” for all those involved in the events of January 6th."

Alright med student. I hope you have fun being a government employee because that's what's in store for you if your crowd gets its way.

The video of them raising their hands in support of decriminalizing crossing the border seems to have been scrubbed. I can't find in, but I guarantee you it happened and I don't have time to comb through the entire debate videos. Biden put his hand halfway up, for whatever that's worth.

And yes, $5 per donut in a midwest city, not sunset blvd. $4 if you want to slum it with the kind with the hole in the middle.

Blaming covid for inflation? Trump's response to Covid was bad, letting Fauci run the show and letting the fed go nuts with QE. Biden's was worse. Trying to force 90 million Americans from the executive office using OSHA to take an experimental "vaccine" or else lose their jobs disqualifies Biden from ever holding office again, or anyone who supported that policy. I could talk about this forever but won't since discussing it is still locked down.

Lol. The video he released hours afterward? There was 187 minutes from the end of his speech that incited the rally to begin with...and only after his staff and Jared begged him to make a statement. He could've release a statement within mini

And in that same video, he references that the election was stolen and other false election statements...the same statements that incited the rally in the first place

I don't think you deserve much credit if you start a fight, and then wait 3 hrs later to try and break it up

Your receipts are written in crayon..on a napkin

Here is the transcript from the Time interview with Trump that was referenced in the recent interview

Let's take a second to talk about January 6. You have called the men and women who have been prosecuted for their actions on January 6 “hostages” and “political prisoners.” More than 800 of these people have been sentenced through our judicial system, most of whom pleaded guilty. Some of them have been convicted by juries. You've said you will pardon them. Are you calling into question the conclusions of the justice system in more than 800 cases?

Trump: It’s a two-tier system. Because when I look at Portland, when I look at Minneapolis, where they took over police precincts and everything else, and went after federal buildings, when I look at other situations that were violent, and where people were killed, nothing happened to them. Nothing happened to them. I think it's a two-tier system of justice. I think it's a very, very sad thing. And whether you like it or not, nobody died other than Ashli.

Will you consider pardoning every one of them?

Trump: I would consider that, yes.

You would?

Trump: Yes, absolutely.

That’s all fine. But just understand that the first time you said Trump never condemned the violence, you were ignorant. The next time you say it, you’ll be lying.

Ahhh, now the anti-vaxxer comes out of hiding.

This adds so much credibility to the rest of your arguments....

Motion to dismiss

That's all fine, but if you are going to play the semantics game, at least play it correctly.

Nobody said he never condemned it.

But if you are satisfied with his BS forced condemnation, that he gave while also reinforcing the ideas that started the violence, and the one he gave hours later...I guess you have been drinking too much of the orange Kool aid

The poster I was responding to… come on dude

Haha. Perhaps.

Then again, I force my kids to apologize all the time. I think they mean it about as much as Trump did.

So if you believe that weak condemnation, I guess you can check that box for yourself. But the rest of the rational world saw how transparent it was

Rasmussen

Trump 49%
Harris 44%

The race is still Trump's to lose.

I am not sure why people do not question Trump's age. The guy rambles and can not even make a complete complex sentence. I guess he can't do no wrong.

Hasn't he always been like that? Maybe that's why.

I think his character is a much easier target.

Where is this 47% ceiling coming from?
Trump vs Hillary/Biden.

Over 50 % of the country can't stand the guy. Turn out will be what beat him because his people will come out to vote regardless.

The Trump campaign is airing adds in NC... interesting. There were no adds 10+ days ago.

Lol, I'm getting a kick out of so-called conservative intellectuals who act like they're policy wonks but yet are 100% on the MAGA trump train.

Trump is not only crazy but he's also dumb as a box of hammers. He's literally incapable of speaking about any topic in more depth than a blurb of a catchphrase that usually has some layer of lying or misinformation in it

For instance:

Jan 6: "Nancy Pelosi's fault. But I will pardon the hostages"

COVID: "Is there a disinfectant that we can inject? You know, like a cleaning?"

Elections: "Everything is rigged unless I win"

Energy: "Drill, baby, drill"

Immigration: "Build the wall. Mexicans are criminals and rapists"

Abortion: "Democrats kill full-term babies out of the womb"

Race disparities: "I'm the best president for blacks since Lincoln"

Climate change: "We had H2O"

His own intellect: "My uncle went to MIT"

And because he's so stupid, he's going to be a rubber stamp for all the Heritage 2025 lunatics who'll be back in the driver's seat if he does win

I think you're right. But to play devil's advocate, some will vote for Trump, even though they can't stand him, because they believe it's a better alternative to Harris. Then again, those are probably the people who always vote Republican no matter what.

Trump loss against Biden was more impressive than his win against Hillary IMO.

He won against Hillary because of James Comey.

And he lost against Biden because of Facebook and Twitter censoring the NYP story.
That might be the case. That's the reason I think his loss against Biden was more impressive given his horrendous management of the covid pandemic.

Agreed. trump lost in 2020 because of the media and big tech censorship campaign against him. If I knew then what I know now thanks to free speech on X, I never would have voted for Biden in 2020

Stop googling. They’ve scrubbed the internet clean. You need to use X as a search engine. Here you go.

Hope this provides evidence to the point I made above about the censorship industrial complex.

Wild. I spent at least 10 minutes trying to find that video on google and it redirected me to videos of the debate where they raised their hands for healthcare related issues.

Try searching for videos of Kamala saying any of the more radical things you remember.

Hell, try finding the controversial part of the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Impossible. You can find people talking about it but not the actual video that was broadcast.

Yeah it’s 1984 levels. But how do we convince the rest of these guys? Lol. It should be so obvious to anyone who just puts in the smallest amount of effort.

Trump is losing in all of the polls. Unless things change Harris will win the election. I guess the Trump haters were right- Trump is hated by a lot more people than I realized. I dislike Trump but dislike Kamala Harris' policies even more. She needs to elucidate her positions on the border, taxes, healthcare, foreign policy, etc.

Given that immigration is very helpful to the US economy, probably worth rethinking your position on it.

So the only way to increase immigration is to let people come across the border at will, bus them into the interior, give them health insurance, and not charge them with a crime? There is no other way? Maybe tell the doctors you work with on a visa they are doing it wrong?

I’m not talking with a serious person.

He is not losing. The betting market is 56% Trump vs. 44% Harris, but the trajectory is not looking good given that next week Kamala will choose Shapiro and then come the convention.

I think he did a good thing by changing the headline yesterday by talking about race. However, I am not sure overall that helps him because these are the things that might repel independents.

Not encouraging bad behavior but it probably cost us more once they are in the country because of EMTALA.

We have a few migrant workers here that come to the ED when things got to a point of no return. In fact, we have one that has been in the hospital since November 2023 due to a stroke. Can't send him anywhere since has no papers.

Nope. The other way is to pass legislation to regulate immigration...you know..like the type of legislation that the Republicans crafted and then Trump blocked?

Problem is, the Republicans have spent so much time suckering their voters into believing that immigration is a major problem, they can't solve it without jeopardizing voter engagement.

So they continue to exaggerate it as a problem, despite the fact that immigrant populations have lower crime rates, higher rates of job creation, lower use of social services compared to native born populations..and they contribute significantly to the economy and labor force.

But ya, immigrants bad...grr

Immigrants use less social resources than native born citizens

It's weird watching people talk themselves into a conspiracy theory.

Does NBC own the footage of the opening ceremony or other country specific networks? Similar to other sporting events, it would not surprise me if this was the case.

If you subscribe to Peacock apparently you can see the opening ceremony in almost it's entirety per reddit, Telemundo may or may not have a longer version. I don't have Peacock so I can't verify myself.

How do you explain the fact that he couldn’t find the video of the 2020 Democratic Primary debate showing Harris and Biden raise their hands when asked about decriminalizing the act of crossing the US border illegally but I found it instantly on X?

Laziness? I don't know why he would lie about having a hard time. X caters more to right wing click bait with more and more normal people leaving it? Search engines aren't perfect.

You have to watch on youtube apparently, click above link. NBC owns this footage as well so they want clicks. Start around 41:20. I'm not a property law expert, but there might be IP allowances for clips to be grabbed as what you found on X. Or maybe X just doesn't care about having other companies' IP shared without owners permission? I dunno.

The "betting market" should not be considered an accurate method of prediction imo. Bookmakers are not in the business of predicting outcomes. An initial line is set and they adjust the line accordingly as money comes in, in an effort to keep the amount roughly equal on both sides. If there is a similar amount of money on both sides, this allows them to maximize their profit from the vig. They don't care about accurately predicting outcomes, they care about people placing bets and predicting what people are willing to bet. This is why, for instance, betting sites had Trump favored to win in 2020 just a few days prior to election day, despite the fact Biden was ahead in the polls (Trump supporters placing a lot of bets on Trump bc they were convinced he would win).

Although he certainly could be the choice, I would not assume it will be Shapiro despite various signs suggesting it. Dems don't always tip their hand.
