For schools such as Pacific Oregon and Southern Nevada, how do they go about calculating your GPA? I've heard that the pass/fail line is at 90% and if you fail the first time, you get the weekend to study and retake the exam on Monday. The reason I ask is because I am interested in pursuing a residency after pharm school and was worried about how those programs view schools with a block schedule.

can you give an example of what your schedule looks like on a typical week/month?

Not sure I've ever heard of what you're talking about. Would be nice if you could provide some more information. 😕

There is no GPA. Everything is just a P. Now a person claiming to be a professor from my school said in another thread that they can write you LORs mentioning if you passed all your assessments the first time out so that can help get a residency. Other than that, I don't know how much it hurts your competitiveness to have no GPA.

I'm assuming this question is for people who attend either USN or Pacific so here goes. The schedule is based around a two week cycle. Assume there was a Friday assessment the previous Friday.

Monday-reassessment day or day off if you passed
Tuesday-lecture 8-3
Wednesday-lecture 8-3
Thursday-lecture 8-3
Friday-IPPE-eight hours at the pharmacy

Monday-seminars on pharm calc/communications/IPPE and other random things 8-3
Tuesday-lecture 8-3
Wednesday-lecture 8-3
Thursday-lecture 8-3
Friday-assessment

Repeat with Monday reassessment

We take one class at a time all day from 8-3 and random classes on that weird Monday. Passing is 90% but there are bonus team points that can get you over the hump if your team passes the exact same assessment with a 95%. You can pass with a 85% if your team comes through for you but that only works on Friday. On Monday, your are on your own.

That's a pretty interesting schedule.. How hard are those exams?

We've only had three exams so far but so far I think somewhere around between 40-50% had to retake the first exam but the other two were much easier. If you study regularly and don't try to cram everything in on the last day, they aren't bad at all.
